When did they decide to ditch capitalization? I know many of their album covers lack capitals but I assumed it was a stylistic choice for the cover art and nothing more.

All their albums have the name with all text in lower case or upper case as in The Blurred Crusade. A Box Of Birds fanmade-covers are the only ones that have the "wrong way" to write it: The Church. I think it started to appear more in ordinary text and news after U#23. the church was doing this and that and I thought it was a typo. Not anymore. Last Edited By: chrome3D 12/07/2011 01:09. Seriously, though... I hadn't realized that it was supposed to be lower-case until recently.

In penance I have made a point to always write it in lowercase since I learned of this. P.S. however I still have to edit my iTunes rips to have the correct spelling of the band name.

They're a really capital band, and the fuss they are making about the spelling belongs to the more ridiculous side of The Church, or the church or T.H.E. C.H.U.R.C.H. - i always liked SK's spelling on the solo records - STeVe KiLBeY. i love to imagine that scenery, the ChRURch meeting in their respective war room, thinking about world domination, and someone comes up with the idea to drop the capital letters, serious faces, well, and now let's think about deployment... i mean, they could be called ConSTABLE Kylbey's Flying Salamander Stormtroopers and I still would slowly start craving for more more more music music music. Are there contractual penalties for mis-spelling? ...because strange is what we need The Fandorin Foto Files

I use small caps for all my iTunes tracks anyway, so problem averted! And a little pretension in a rock band is nothing new, right?

Columbus Posts: 977 (02/21/2012 00:14) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I would only change the capitalization of the band name (I still have to do it, fact is I rarely sync my iPod so I had forgotten to do it). For song names I capitalize all major words, and leave in small caps conjunctions, etc. (sometimes I even bother to edit the capitalization of song titles that comes from the CDDB to my liking), but for band names I do try to use the caps the way they use them.

Snowfaller Posts: 451 (03/20/2012 20:41) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	its quite intentional, and deliberate. and it carries into almost all of the artwork and track listings and as much of the other verbiage as is practical starting with aent with the exceptions being the recent slew of ep's everything else is lower case its an aesthetic and started at the prompting of mr. kilbey YOU DON'T TRUST IN NOBODY...BECAUSE THEY COULD BITCHIN YOU WHEN THEY'RE NOT AGREED WITH YOU...

Columbus Posts: 977 (03/26/2012 20:46) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	i think it is an interesting choice charcoal ed, not surprised it came from mr. kilbey. as unstandard capitalizations of band names go this one is a statement without excess. now that i'm well aware of it i like it. i have finally changed the band capitalization in my mp3 tags, btw.
