Some words from the interview ( these are my adds ) : - New Noctorum album almost ready, mastering done - Long breedy songs - Pink floyd something - No theme on the new Noctorum album, just great songs, maybe a lyrical theme - Idea behind noctorum is to be eclectic, like The Beatles on white album , records with range - We are free to do what we want - First track Tora Tora Tora, most poptastic tune!, (sounds a bit muddy, some strange ad in the middle, this is the way they prevent recording in UK radio?) - Talk about Hollywood movies like Ben-Hur, Spartacus and Tora Tora Tora (TTT: American - Japanese film about Pearl Harbor attack, Richard Fleischer, 1970, starring Martin Balsam and Jason Robards) - People are visually orientated these days, people don´t listen that much to records? - Marty busy writing all the time - We, Noctorum, have to be in the same room to make it work, only 3 months a year Marty is in Penzance - Some people make records these days with dead people ( Duet with Nat king Cole etc. ) - Noctorum has played live once but it was actually a Marty gig - It is difficult to do Noctorum live, need for various musicians is too big - Big theatre tour in Australia in December for the church - We try to bring the church 3 album tour to UK next september if it´s possible - No collaborations with Julianne Regan/All About Eve, she is no longer interested in performing - Marty and Dare have 20 000 records in an archive, or more these days - If an investor came in archive would be turned in to a museum - Noctorum Honey Mink Forever comes out in 2-3 weeks from now, go to heydayrecords.com - Victorian Vignette (?) is the last song Last Edited By: chrome3D 09/16/2011 07:52. "difficult to do Noctorum live, need for various musicians is too big": they can do an acoustic duet in London for example to promote the last Noctorum album, so not too much gear and musicians. I think the longest we've ever had between "proper" albums was about 3 1/2 years (HOB to AENT). Maybe it could be a 4 album show...

As for the songs, it's the usual eclectic mix. The new album features our fastest ever song, our slowest ever song and the only song we have ever recorded to feature a guest vocalist. Recorded at The VIP Lounge in Penzance, Cornwall, Marty Willson-Piper and Dare Mason have written another eclectic set with the only thread being their diverse musical tastes and longstanding friendship. The album will be available to pre-order from November 1st 2011and will be released as a download and digipak CD on December 1st 2011. The first 500 people to order the album will be given three free downloads. The first song Better Hope You’re Not Alone is a taster track from the album- the other two do not appear on the album. These two bonus, non-album tracks, Turn the Dial And Scream and The Fugitive have an interesting story. Dare and Marty each sing their own lyrics and vocal melody over the same musical backing. It’s a unique and interesting experiment that shows a personality can shape anything into one’s own personal vision. Dare and Marty grew up together in the North West of England close to Manchester and Liverpool spending their teenage years on the Wirral Peninsula between Liverpool and North Wales. Marty’s tenures with Australian cult band the church, English folk goths All About Eve and punk legends The Saints are a good indication of his eclecticism. Dare has an extensive CV as a producer/ engineer working with Queen, Prince, David Sylvian, Ravi Shankar, Paul McCartney and a whole host of different kinds of artists. He has also recorded and released two ambient albums. Together they make a musical stew of diverse ingredients, happily genre-hopping from Pink Floyd-esque epics, to rock, folk and pop, even jazz rock. The ten tracks are invariably richly harmonic and melodic but can also be dark and aggressive. Always lyrically intriguing with stories of woe, love, fantasy and down to earth songs of reality, Noctorum will take you on a journey outside of yourself, inside of yourself and everywhere in between. It took a while until the "special email" came but it looks sorted now. If you ordered yesterday, I think you should be in the crowd of 500. I don't know why they should limit the downloads to 500 though. It´s going to be a bummer for those who don't get the bonus tracks. Reminds me a lot of the sound of Seeing Stars, an album I literally consumed over the CD player for as much I liked it...can't wait to have the whole album, good to have Marty back!
