sounds like alien is taping chicago too, and if i remember from his dime posts he uses a digital recorder or md, can't remember, so i'm going to roll old school with a sony D3 cassette with a realistic 33-1065 condenser, and i might roll my sony MD with sony ECM 929LT mic. i get better sound out of the park west with the D3 than anything else. i've rolled core sound binaurals there the last two church shows, and it always sounds really roomy. park west is a tough place to tape, in terms of finding a good sound. at least we'll have different sounding sources.

this'll be my first time using the realistic mic, but there's an old recording of parkpop '88 from holland with the realistic 33-1065/sony D3 combo that sounds wonderful to my ears, so i'm going to give it a shot. i know what the coresound/MD combo sounds like in there, which is ok, but i'm going to experiment with some different stuff and see what sounds best. i had good luck with the sony ECM929LT last april... i had my recording level too high (first time using the D3 in ages), so only the quieter songs came out, but they sounded miles better than the MD/core combo.
