Truely the thickest cd they've put out since the early 90's. Good to hear a cd from them with bite. they do an amazing job at the ethereal thing...this one stands out from recent releases. just a domestic's humble opinion....

In FY, even the peaceful, beautiful songs still have a growl way in the distance. just the right amount of dissonance to lift those songs from a ballad to something else, that touch of pain and anger doesn't disappear. this cd's going to have to go back onto my mp3 player.

Glow Worm Posts: 86 (01/05/2011 20:29) Maven Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm a fan of their early stuff first and I still rate this as about their third best album behind Blurred Crusade and Heyday. Yes, it even pips P=A because I find that one as a bit too literally Prog for my taste as I lean closer to the Psych angle. Although, I'd gladly cull three tracks and remix 'Telepath' to put it in line with a classic release, the rest is so cohesive and doesn't cave-in under the strain of its own weight like AENT does.

I was slow in getting back into the Church after Sometime Anywhere, and this is the one that really firmly helped me to realize how much I love these guys. It got mixed reviews, though. I do think it's perhaps a couple of songs too long. I really like Beside Yourself as well. For about two years that was actually my favorite Church album. Played it constantly.
