I checked some Church lyrics. Unguarded Moment is Stephen King, UTMW is James Joyce. SK's latest blog was JK Rowling and my last HW post was Dan Fucking Brown.

I copy pasted 5 of my own texts in there. These were the answers:
Arthur Conan Doyle Kurt Vonnegut Harry Harrison Harry Harrison Stephen King Harry is unknown to me but now I have to see what his stuff is all about! ![]() |

Just writing something spontaneously resulted in "Stephen King". Hmm.... :-/ I stopped reading him about 20 years ago...
Also pumped some of my own song lyrics into it and got: Arthur Conan Doyle Arthur C. Clarke (2x) David Foster Wallace (2x) (I guess this means I'll have to read Infinite Jest one day) Cory Doctorow (2x) (who the heck is that?) Margaret Atwood (2x) Dan Fucking Brown (2x) Bram Stoker Stephen King (2x) Chuck Palahniuk Ursula K. LeGuin Wow. Actually the site doesn't seem to produce random results, because Matt Ruff tested it on his own work and got the expected result: http://matt-ruff.livejournal.com/113742.html (aah, well, just saw in the comments there that he tweaked the result a bit...)

Strange.
I tried entering in various paragraphs from an analysis of the recent Australian federal election (and in particular the count in my own seat) that I recently had published on Tasmanian Times. (http://tasmaniantimes.com...on-confused-the-nation/) It generally gave different answers for each paragraph entered, though there were several duplicates for Lovecraft, Poe and Arthur C Clarke. When I entered the whole thing in one go the output was James Joyce although Joyce had not come up for any paragraph. When I cut it in half it also gave Joyce for each half. Some of the authors mentioned by others above I never got. I don't know what its criteria are. Oh, and just to really make sure it was broken I copied and pasted in an Arthur Clarke short story (The Nine Billion Names Of God) and apparently Arthur Clarke doesn't write like himself; he writes like Chuck Palahniuk. I also threw in a Hunter S Thompson extract and it said he wrote like Dan Brown. That's just frightful. I gave up. |
