Hello,
I'm all a bit new to this kind of thing, so I hope this ends up in the right place!
Well, where do I start...
My name is Rup.
I first heard The Church (best band on the planet - and probably most other planets, too), back in 1998.
I'm pretty sure it was '98, cos I remember it just before I met my girlfriend...
Not bad - 12 years with the perfect girl, and 12 years with the perfect band!
Anyway, I got into them through the first Jack Frost album - (I was, and still am, a massive Go-Betweens fan - Granty R.I.P...).
I grew to really love the album, and became inordinately curious about the other protaganist in the project. It turned out to be a certain Mr Kilbey.....
who was in a band (that I had vaguely heard of) called The Church...
Then, one day, in a cheap record shop, I was lucky enough to spot the Louisiana single going for an amazing 50 British Pence! I fell head over in heels in love
with it, (the single, not the 50p).
Then.... Shortly afterwards, Tower Records were having a massive clear out, and I bought a 3 CD set (including P=A, Sometime Anywhere & Gold Afternoon Fix) at about £6.
The rest is History...
Cheers,
Rup
ps - as much as i love U23, it's sill not quite as good as Hologram Of Baal!
