both albums are great, but i have to admit the panoramic cinematographomegascopic sound of the debut really really overwhelms me...plus i adore the cover art!

A bit stupid to create a poll about so little known band. Nothing to do about that anymore.
![]() Engineers have released a new album today. "In Praise Of More" is the title of the album. It came a lot faster than I expected it to come as there was a 4-year gap in between the 1st and 2nd albums. First impression is that it´s more warmer and intimate than Three Fact Fader. New band member Ulrich Schnauss is probably a good addition to the lineup. |

I just yesterday discovered the whole greatness of Three Fact Fader. I have this for over a year, and I sussed it only yesterday. Dark n rainy day. Car stereo. Fog. Engineers. Three Fact Fader. Sometimes, the circumstances must be right!! And just as I discovered the 2nd album, the 3rd is out!!

Three Fact Fader is perfect for dark and rainy might. It´s like a soundtrack for a Bladerunner/Seven- kinda movie, where it always rains. Autumn music.
Still the best autumn rain album is The Cure´s Disintegration, which was probably made to be in sync with massive falling rain. In Praise Of More sounds still good to me. It will get a bashing because it´s not so rock. Pretty impressive stuff given that it is practically a DIY bedroom stuff made mostly by the singer, or at least that´s the way I read it.

it's more like the 1st album, panoramascopic and massive... - another perfect autumnal album. Still with lots of gorgeous epic guitar sweeps. It's the sound of falling leaves translated to guitar pop. Schnauss - I like his solo albums a lot - and his fantastic keyboard invention suit the band...
Did I tell I absolutely adore this album??? |

Yeah, I love it too. There are a lot of bands operating at this genre but Engineers take it to another level.
I´m still waiting for the CD which I preordered. It should have a second disc of the album in instrumental mode and that would be nice to have too. Unfortunately there are difficulties in distribution. |

Ulrich Schnauss has joined Engineers?!?!?!?!?!?
That's amazing!! (although, i hope he still finds time to release those gorgeous solo albums!) As for the best Engineers album - as much as i love the second, i still prefer the first! By the way, have any of you heard The Meeting Places? If you like Engineers......... |

I listened to The Meeting Places. They have same kind of sounds here and there. Still I don´t think they are that similar to Engineers. Some songs like "Pause" and "Cardboard robot" for example sound a bit like Engineers but it´s more about the attitude and something unexplainable that sets them apart.

I discovered Engineers last year through their record label, KScope. The label has got some other great bands as well. If you like Engineers, North Atlantic Oscilation's debut Grappling Hooks might appeal to you as well. As for In Praise of More, I see it as not coming close to the grandeur of Three Fact Fader. Short in length and new ideas, this new album sees them treading water a bit. An ok album, but not a worthy follow up.
