Hello Fellow Church Fans |

|
Hi. My name is Jessica and I have been a fan of the Church for at least a year. I remember hearing "Under The Milky Way" on an episode of the O.C.
and immediately fell in love. I did some research and it led me here. I have purchased all the Church albums out there that I know up with the exception of
Magician Among the Spirits and A Quick Smoke Of Spots. I guess they are out of print here in the USA. Well I am just writing to say hello and to tell you a
little about my self. I live in Rapid City, South Dakota and I am a fitness instructor for children and young adults. Hope there is room for one more fan on
this site. My favorite Church song would have to be Transiet but there are so many to choose from. My friends tell me this band reminds them of Pink Floyd
but I personally don't think so. The Church has their own sound; thats what makes them stick out. Well, I hope to hear back.

Hello Jessica. Nice story to hear. Don´t think about the Floyd comparisons, those remarks are made by people for whom everything towards this type of music is
Floyd. They don´t know anything else. It usually takes them 5 seconds to come up with: "hey...you must like Floyd then too?" especially while
listening to Priest=Aura. The Church is much more than that.
The best way to get the songs that made A Quick Smoke At Spot´s compilation would be to get the 2005 Starfish and Gold Afternoon Fix remasters. All those songs are on the bonus discs. Those discs are found from Amazon with reasonable price tags. You won´t regret it as the sound quality is better and there are other wonderful bonus songs too. |

Welcome to the fold, Jessica S.
'Transient' is one of my longtime favorites as well. It's one of those hidden opals still in matrix which seem to go unnoticed and unmentioned by most people; as you explore the Church canon you'll find a few more of those! 'Authority', 'Ricochet', and 'All I Know' come to mind.

"Transient"'s definitely a favourite of mine. It's that little sad Film Noir in the middle of GAF.
BTW, almost 20 years after acquiring GAF, I unveil more and more of its secrets. I don't mind the band disowning it, but for me, it'll always be the beautiful frozen dead butterfly. One day you should hear the original GAF demos. Check out some bootlegs where they speed the songs up. Pharaoh gets a certain Rammstein quality. If only Jay Dee had been there already. |

Welcome to the Womb. That's an excellent point, Fando. Imagine the possibilities of an ACTUAL DRUMMER on GAF, instead of the hurried drum machine. Although
the demos have a certain rough charm to them that's in complete counterpoint to both Starfish and P=A.
