Lurking for 3 months is long enough I guess. Hello all. 43yo male from Melbourne, AUS. I bought Starfish in '91.
It's been an album that I've turned to many times over the years and it never fails to hit the spot. I've only seen the lads live once. It was at
The Palace in StKilda in about '92. I still remember being very impressed with the whole performance. I have no decent explanation as to why I didn't
discover more Church material and failed to attend any shows between 1992 and 2008. Out of curiosity, several times in the last few years I've surfed the
net looking for info about them. Reading about revolving door lineup changes, drum machines, covers albums, acoustic albums and acoustic shows was off-putting.
I started delving a little into ProgRock in about 2005 read several terriffic reviews of P=A on ProgArchives.com of all places. I finally purchased my 2nd Church CD about 6 moths ago, P=A. This has set me off on my Church/Kilbey addiction. The other albums I've got so far are ULTC and Painkiller. I can't get over how creative and prolific yet overlooked The Church/Kilbey has been since the UTMW spotlight moved on. I'm loving Painkiller at the moment. Perfect.
I've also discovered The Time Being blog of late. How anyone can churn out entries in a blog with such amazing vivid imagery on a daily basis is beyone me.
So now I'm just wishing I was in Sydney last night at the Painkiller gig and and hoping there'll be some kind of gig in Melb early in the new year (I know about the festival at Meridith, but the format and cost is prohibitive).
Enough rambling. You all seem nice, so in short hi to you all.
