Sorry Im late to report but xmas and everything.. just catching up now.. but it was a fantastic night helped along by the wonderful presence of Steve Kilbey himself and Ricky Maymi and my wonderful new friend Kate, my partner in crime, who went with me to soundcheck to help practise our UNprofessional filming skills LOL .. well, we did get footage. Kate's film got better visuals and I think i got better sound. Anyway, im slowly getting mine up on YouTube (username lilyame) and you'll see links to Souquie as well from there (Kate's films) for a bit of a gander. Great to meet such nice fans for the first time (Mel, Big Smiles Kate and Vincent J) and a blast to catch up with Russell Kilbey and his wife and meet William Bowden at last... and SK's mate nelG! Margot came along too and a brief hello with JLK. Always great to see Captain Mission and David R. Quite a few of the usual suspects were missing in action but it was a monday night during xmas week so I imagine they all got tied up with tinsel and babysitting problems. Kate had some fantastic postcards printed up of the Painkiller flyer (the one on this page) that we dropped off at various places around Sydney close to the venue. Tim Powles is a superb drummer (check out the videos). I was disappointed i didnt get around to meeting Scott von Ryper (the gothic guitar prince from The Black Ryder/Morning After Girls) but like Ricky, he's super cool to watch onstage. Wanted to meet Martin Kennedy too but too many people and not enough time before everyone was moved on. astreetlightsong were really good. My 18yr old son loves their song The Lighthouse. Tim Powles son Sam is guitarist. all india radio were amazing - their female singer Leona is fantastic. Didnt realise they were from melbourne. Love the howling wolf intro to Wolfe and the buddhist mantra chant?? in the raagini/ragine jam. My favourite song of the night was Oenone and Outbound.. aah, they were all good. Song for the Masking sounded slowed down (no its not my video!)..
