This album is probably my favourite of Marty's solo releases because the songs were written over a long period of time and ended up encompassing the start of a very important relationship Marty had, going through the emotional highs and lows and then by the time he'd was finishing the album the relationship was truly over and the songs became sad and heartbroken and often make me cry (ie I Dont Think So). It was also the second time i was credited on an album (for a photo) and I think I bought about 8 copies of it for my family LOL I personally love After 8. Its a heartbreaking song about suicide - specifically musicians like Paul Hester. It could also be about a relationship. Either way, the song does not deserve to go yet. A friend of mine Ori was at Marty's gig too in April this year. I cannot hear this song without thinking about him and what he was thinking when Marty talked about it. He took his life 2 weeks later. It's not about the music, which is purposefully minimal. I haven´t listened it that much and I have to go for quick decisions here, but that´s a view like any other. I´m glad Swan was voted out, I initially had it too, but I didn´t want to vote it out as it´s the only rocking song. It is just jarring and misplaced in this album. It shouldn´t have been track 2 as it sets wrong kinda mood for the rest of the album. I still can´t see the appeal of After 8, so I vote it again. Live from the other side...maybe as a poll?

That was just my own perspective on the album Everyone has different experiences, mine is just a very personal one with that song. For the same reason it could never be my favourite either.

Picks up for me around After 8 (with the exception of What is her name which deserved to go in the first round - twee!). Personally I wouldn't bother with the live albums.
