Steve posted on his blog for March 27 that a Live Jack Frost tour dvd is in the pipeline. Steve also comments on the recent article that shows how you get
1000 of your loyal fans to keep you financially afloat by putting out numerous dvd's, cd's, books etc...that you know the ravenous fans will buy. This
idea is not new of course. Marillion had a fan funded 97 tour of North America and they have had 2 of their last albums pre paid for. Around 12 to 15
thousand fans buy their next album before it is even written. They have raised around 800,000 U.S. Dollars this time around to record, promote, and distribute
the album. They haven't needed a record company advance for 7 years now. Additionally, Marillion put out numerous live dvd's, cutting room floor demo
cd's and live albums. In short, they survive because they have 125 thousand fans that buy each album, and 10% buy it before it is written or recorded.
Not sure what the average Church albums sells these days, but I am sure if the guys emptied their vaults a little, there would be enough crazy fans like me
that would buy a lot of it. For a guy (SK) to be publicly worried about his tax burden and income stream, it seems only logical he would urge The Church to
start releasing even more than they do now!!!
