I've been thinking about a topic that will spark a good discussion. if you could write the set list out for the band and could pick 25 songs (i know, one hell of a show but 20 is too hard) and the order they are to be played in, what would they be. your dream church gig. i'm sure there will be a few similarities and a few disagreements but thats why we are here, no? maybe if everybody posts their set lists, chrome can set up a game for the "ultimate set list". ---------------------------------- Rules: - Post your setlist of 20-25 songs by sunday 2.3.2008 community time 22:00 - Last 2 songs are encores - Your list will be copy-pasted as it is, with your possible comments - Number of participants: 8, 12 or 16 - During the match of your own setlist you can only comment. - When entering this game you realise that your setlist will be evaluated by the most hard boiled Church-fans in the world. - You are likely to lose a game sooner or later and it might hurt. Anyway, very interesting set there. Heres mine 1. Myrrh- first song i ever heard by them. a classic then and a classic now 2. Bel Air- beautiful, their first classic, timeless song 3. Overview- one of my favorites off of ULTC 4. Texas Moon- and this is a b-side? man are they prolific when something this good gets released as a b-side 5. Telepath- gorgeous melodies, harmonies 6. Chromium- only song i've got from AENT and one of mwp's finest 7. Two Places at Once- love how the two parts are different and yet they fit, the choruses just soar 8. Comedown- how this never became a hit still baffles me to this day 9. Louisiana- other wordly 10. Shadow Cabinet- rocks along quite nicely 11. When You Were Mine- love the riff that revolves in it and Acoustic Set 12. To Be In Your Eyes- a favorite that has been with me during some down times so it's in 13. Disappear?- same as above 14. Tristesse- version on EMD is beautiful 15. 0408- just a great, great song 16. A New Season- one of pk's finest Electrics back out 17. Almost With You- perfect pop song 18. Metropolis 19. Appalatia- pk's other favorite of mine 20. Easy- again how did this not make a dent, a ripple if you will, on the radio? 21. She'll Come Back For You- one of mwp's finest, very well done 22. Tantalized - great rocker and without the horns Encore 1 23. Hotel Womb 24. Aura- great vibe Encore 2 25. Is This Where You Live?- great buildup in the song, wonderful imagery, great guitars (shimmering is overused, innit?), wonderful sing along chorus and those soaring harmonies Well thats mine. I had to leave way too much off, and I will probably change my mind, but oh well

I like it, others are willing to do their own games. This could be the next game. If you want to, I can do it. I have only one advice: it will be easier in tournament format. When the lists are so long, it would be easier for voters to decide from only two set lists/round. Deciding from about 8-12 lists the one to vote out might be a bit difficult and time consuming. Here is my 25 choices from the top of my head 1. Eastern / Romany Caravan medley 2. Almost With You 3. Metropolis 4. Tranquility 5. Warm Spell 6. Chrome Injury 7. Block 8. Saturation 9. June 10. Aura 22. It´s all too much 23. Numbers 24. Telepath 25. Just For You Huh, so many good ones were left out! That´s just a big mess that came out. That acoustic set in the middle was a good idea, H2D. -------------------------------- That was too conventional. As this is a dream set list I want to dream something else: 1. Glow Worm Posts: 293 (02/26/2008 20:59) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	i defer to your greatness at setting it up. kind of a computer idiot, unfortunately, but making progress fast. whenever you feel that theres enough to do it, however you want to do it, go for it. really enjoyed the opinions bandied about in the other games you have set up. seems that everyone, or all the regulars at least, get involved. thanks chrome. really interesting set there. love the idea of 'eastern/romany caravan' opening it. never crossed my mind but the thought is really interesting. for what you call a mess it actually flows really good. love the inclusion of 'it's all too much'.

There is already 3 setlists, now there is a need for at least 5 more. There is some graphics now. Next I should make a trophy for the winner. That will be revealed only in the end. I would be willing to add another if somehow it falls short (kind of like the lyrics game you set up). Anyway, thanks. Look forward to seeing what everyone posts. At least we may be able to get a consensus on the songs that show up on the most sets.

I'd stop going to concerts after getting to see them play this. There'd be no point after this. Fly/One Day/Bel-Air are played without a break. The "na na na, a palm tree nodded..." bit at the end of One Day leads nicely into Bel-Air. A New Season segues into Texas Moon in the same fashion. While 12 is a bit difficult, it´s still good to have as many as possible. There is now enough time to polish your set lists (4 days), as it takes a longer time you might think to make it good.

There are so many great opening and closing tracks. I only have 20 tracks in my list as there are plenty of epics in the list as it is and a show with this set list would likely last for 3 and half hours. The Encores alone could take 40 minutes. I would be pretty dam happy to get this show. 1 Aura 2 Is this where you live 3 Hotel Womb 4 Numbers 5 Reptile 6 Swan Lake 7 All I know 8 Myrrh 9 NSEW 10 Grind 11 Buffallo 12 Telepath 13 An Interlude 14 Dont Look Back 15 After Everything 16 Constant In Opal 17 Block 18 Tantalized ( The greatest live song in the history of the world IMHO) 19 Life Speeds Up 20 Invisible medley I reckon the band and audience would be exausted after this show.
