What is this site about?
Hotelwomb.yuku.com contains Bulletin Boards Dedicated to the fans of The Church, it's an unofficial site. The main discussions occurring here relate to the music of this group. The bulletin board and the software underneath its operation it are hosted by yuku.com, those pages will load automatically.
What are the links at the top for?
(if you don't see the navigation bar click on the logo, or load www.hotelwomb.yuku.com)
From the Womb's navigation bar, you can visit those sites for general information about the band and to purchase music.
What are appropriate things to post in this boards?
Anything Church related or otherwise as stated in the Forum description.
The main rule is "Play Nice", since we're hosted by yuku.com their terms and conditions of use also apply.
There is a no censorship rule, but please don't try to test the limits of what is acceptable, Play Nice. Faith Healers for the forums can edit inappropriate content, thankfully that has been a very rare need.
Why the names of the Forums?
If you don't recognize some names it's because the names span the whole discography of The Church. You can use the song finder at the Discography for an easy way to find information on specific song names you don't recognize.
What about the member "categories"?
They're not really categories, just convenient tags.
What about the Faith Healers?
They're the moderators of the boards. The moderator powers rarely need to be used and will not be abused. See the left column on the board homepage for a quick reference at who moderates which forum, click on the name to check their public profiles if you want.
They're here to welcome new members, to help people with questions when possible, help fix links, add images of albums, help to keep the conversation going and try to steer it in positive directions, etc. Some of them may post quite often, other than that they're just regular members.
When was this site started?
See the history of HW thread on The Feast (you can easily access that from the quick guide in the "Where Did That Thread Go" topic).
Why/How is this divided into different forums?
Mostly for convenience, to have conversations about different aspects related to the music of the Church, or other topics, as defined in the forums descriptions (in some cases a forum specific FAQ will have more information).
Do I need to register?
If you want to post replies, you need to register with yuku.com
If you're already a global yuku member you don't need to register here, you can post when you're logged in with that user name. Feel free to create a local yuku account for HW with a "churchy" name if you want.
What is a global user and a local user?
See the yuku FAQ available from their homepage.
The most important thing is that if you're a local user you must log in from the link provided in the HW boards and you can't use that name to post elsewhere, but you can use a name that already exists for a global user (as long as it hasn't been used here).
Do I need to introduce myself in the Welcome Forum?
It's not a requirement, but we would love it if you do. Tell us where you're from, how you first discovered the Church, and a little bit about yourself.
Why can't I log in? / Why am I having problems using HotelWomb?
Please see the yuku FAQ or the All I Know forum
How do I post a reply?
Click on the reply button at the end of a topic, or the reply link at the left of a post in the topic. You need to be registered to post a reply. Most topics will always take a new reply no matter how long ago the last one was made.
Starting a new topic... What topics have been discussed? How can I find some topics?
Feel free to start a new topic that you want to discuss, try to put it in the proper forum for convenience.
This is not a requirement but you may want to check if there isn't a thread already on the topic you want to discuss. All topics here are usually open for discussion even if someone has not posted in that thread for a long time, just add a reply to it.
You can use the search function provided by ezboard, or you can browse through the pages of the corresponding forum with the links to the page numbers available at the top and bottom of the topics list.
There's an Index to Why Don't You Love Me, and a guide with links to a few topics on The Feast, there are no plans to have full indexes to any other forum (unless someone were to volunteer to do them).
Why shouldn't I duplicate topics?
There is nothing wrong with doing it, but we prefer to keep a long conversation going instead of splitting it. This way others can see or revisit what other wombers have said about a topic in the past. A duplicate topic may not get many replies since those that have said something in the past may not want to repeat themselves.
What if I don't get replies?
First, don't be disappointed, many, including the Faith Healers and the Pharoah, have been in that situation. Second, don't think that we're ignoring you, a topic will be read always by more people than those that reply to it. Maybe some other topics seem more interesting, maybe people are unfamliar with the topic or for some other reason can't think of a reply. If you think the topic is worth revisiting feel free to add more information or an update later to raise visibility and bring it back to the top or the first page. Start other topics, contribute to existing threads and sooner or not much later you'll get replies.
How do I add links, images, emoticons, etc.?
Follow the links available in the post composition windows for more details. The emoticons also appear in the post composition window (where they can be hidden). Use responsibly.
What is this note about Edited by: ___ at: (date, time)?
Why is the last reply date for a topic in the main page of a forum different than the real one?
Any user can edit their own posts at a later time, this will show in the forum list, even if the last reply wasn't edited. Only Faith Healers can edit posts by other people and only in the Forums they moderate. Editing by Faith Healers is done only to add images when needed (e.g. album covers) or fix URLs to provide links. Message contents will not be edited without very specific reasons.
But what about the band? Who are The Church? Who are the members? What have they released? What is new?
You can easily find that information in other sites. Check the FAQ in the Shadow Cabinet, and the official site biography, as well as the Discography website. Several topics here will have information about the band but is not collected in any specific way, and those sites are the source of much of that information. Regarding news we usually get them quickly through the collective effort of the Wombers in Myths You Made. Check the official website for the latest official news.
I have other questions...
If it's about yuku please visit their Help Center first.
For other questions please post them in All I Know if appropriate, or post them as a reply here, if it can be answered easily you should get a quick answer. The original reply post for the question and the answer may be deleted and the Q&A added to this post, an acknowledgment to collaborators post would recognize their contribution.
[Special thank you to TimeBeing for putting this together. And additional thanks to all who contributed.]
