Does anyone know where the Volumes website went to? I was going to go there to build the radio show I am planning and could not find it. The link to it above in the threads here is invalid.
Thanks Glenn Its easy to listen to Violettown's radio stream

Participants are: Ori Ashman Tom Edgington Spiros Xenos Daniel Watkins ALTRES/Brian Hutton Thomas Irvin Damian Sheiles Harry Flowers IKON/Chris McCarter Robert Lurie The Cosmic Stepping Stones Pyramid Builders Union (Noel Riddell & John Black) A Melodic Daydream (Chris Newton & Lnz Shilling) The Corduroy Couch/Erik Eklund Tony Pucci Robert Rankin Walker Stefan Horlitz The Daylight Titans Matt Oliver |

Wow, Tony...
That is great news for all womber artists. Will be on the look out for it. So in the "Pushpin" stationary thread for important WOMB MUSIC information all the links to Volumes are invalid p218.ezboard.com/fhotelwombfrm57.showMessage?topicID=1.topic On another note, I was looking for womb music and came across this URL http://www.wombmusic.com I guess they stole the name or what!! One other thing Tony. I should get the track names that are to be on this CD and I will make sure I do not put these tracks on my radio show but generate the playlists from an artists other pieces.

Volumes CD Review | ||

Hi All,
Well it took a while for this CD to get released and then it seemingly fell off the face of the earth. There are some great tracks to be had. I highly recommend you give it a listen. As for my review... Since we all collectively appreciate certain kinds of music (Church and extended family) but also have our own unique tastes I am going to try to limit my review of the Volumes CD to production qualities. I must admit that I don't have the stomach nor desire to say anything hyper critical of anyone's piece of art. But I'd still like to offer my humble contsrtuctive criticism. I have tried not to let the content of songs, style, or instrumentation influence my reviews. And since I dish it out I am more than open to receive the same treatment. Matt A Melodic Daydream- Sharks Too rushed. Too slick. Very talented singer and band. Production too slick to draw me in The Daylight Titans- High Too earnest. Lick isn't given enough time to breath. Personally I'd slow it down a little. Robert Rankin Walker- Spin Professional production throughout. Main vox could be more upfront with less high end- warmer. Ikon- Blue Murder Nice retro synth sound/atmosphere. Another top notch production found on the CD Cosmic Stepping Stones- Winter In The Sun I find it a little over produced. To me the production is missing interplay between instruments. Pyramid Builders Union- Up 'Til Now Not making use of sonic spectrum in spite of the very good production. Robert Lurie- Playing With Knives Ahhh. Heavy reverb on an acoustic guitar and vocal. Brave to deliver such a personal song. PersonalIy, I tend to use way more (read: too much) reverb. Robert delivers a moody piece. Altres- Snakebridge Never know what to expect from this soul/sometimes crew. Very energetic. Took a while but the guitar I originally found too fast, even too rigid, eventually folded over itself and smoothed itself out. I like the dueling keyboards. I think the drums, guitar and supporting keys are forced together in the staging. In the stereo mix, I'd give 'em more space. Harry Flowers- We Glamorous Few Who doesn't like what Harry does? I really like the production on this number. Production-wise, perhaps a degree less slick than the first few tracks on this CD, but well thought out and performed. Cosmetic Attitude- Still Water Full disclosure- this is my song. Mixed within such a narrow EQ margin. What the hell was I thinking/hearing? I've heard ring tones with more sonic spectrum!! Damian Sheiles- The London Room I hear P=A influence. Very symphonic. A little too much high end missing-especially in the guitar. Great performance. A great piece. Thomas Irvin- Incredulous Nice tonal qualities. It may take a little too long to get to the vocals. I like the singer's delivery but I wish it was a little more up front in the mix. Silver and Ash- Where Do You Go Full sounding mix with a stripped down simplicity. Well mixed instruments and vox. I like the doubling/harmony vocals. Occurring Beekeepers-Goods On You Great energy to the song, like a very restrained punk tune ready to blow wide open. Nice vocal doubling at certain points. The Fandorines- Whiteout Very nice sounding guitars. Great tribal beat with distinct and deliberate sections. Is it my PC or headphones or is there some over modulation? Daniel Watkins-So Far Gone Immediate mood switch from previous track. It's great how this song inflects a sense of foreboding so effectively. Nice production. I enjoy Daniel's vocal style and would like to hear it a little further up front in the mix. The Corduroy Couch- Relativity I like the overall vibe (for lack of better term) of this track. I would like to hear the drums and bass stand out a little more. Tony Pucci- Song For Valeria Great arrangement. A well produced track from this compilation's catalyst. Tom Edgington- Film Stars I like the instrumentation and the programmed drums. Great production that coincides with the story telling. Does anyone else have comments or reviews?

> Very nice sounding guitars. Great tribal beat with distinct and deliberate sections. Is it my PC or headphones or is there some over modulation? Thanks Matt!! When I read "I will review the production values", I started sweating and whistling innocently...as this was my first recording i ever did, at least of one of my own songs (after having slaughtered Texas Moon and Nothing Inside before). I had no songs at all. I sat down and started playing on my ultra-cheap strat copy and wanted to do in the spirit Reprieve with more post rock and surf included, and I swore to myself I won't get up until I had something. Started with an unassuming Coldplay riff. Added some Chameleons rhythm guitar. Threw in 2 chords I had found some time before. Was frustrated. Played a shrill heavier section. Things change to a major key. First part returns. Let it all swing out with a spherical section. Recorded and tweaked for 5 hours. Got drunk. This is the one of my songs I really really love, and it was done in one evening, without loops, without copy and paste. I am very proud of this, sad is, something like that never happened ever after. The last music from me before a 3,4 years break. I just started recording again. |
