Remove this ad I was sure there was already a thread about this band....but I sure can't find it..... So I'll start a new one. Remy Zero is a band that has 3 CD's out so far... REMY ZERO.....(1997) VILLA ELAINE....(199 THE GOLDEN HUM....(2001) I fearst heard about them through Radiohead praising them, RZ opened for Radiohead on the OK COMPUTER tour & the bands became friends & surely there was some creative give & take....while there are some simiarities between the bands Remy Zero are definately American. I also know that RZ have opened at least one show for the Church...possibly more. Remy Zero have any arty rock sound with a big pop element * one of the best singers I have ever heard in Rock music. Some of you may have heard a little about Remy Zero because three of the 5 members are the musicians that wrote & played the music on the ISADORE song TRANSMIGRATION, which Steve Kilbey then wrote lyrics to & added his distintive vocals, which can be found on the Karmic Hit rarities CD that some of you have been talking about lately. While I love all of their CDs I highly recommend starting with Villa Elaine...the most consistent of the 4 releases so far, a perfect rock record with ambition, creativity & execution...every song is amazing, & the vocals are emotional while not telling you exactly what to feel. Please, get this CD. If you really listen, I don't see how you could be disappointed. JK %^)

I saw them live when they opened for Pete Yorn at The Fillmore in San Francisco back in November. They are impressive. Cinjun Tate is a great vocalist IMO. Eduardo

From the albums, the complexity of the music hinted at, but the live performance is certainly is revealed. The number of musicians on the stage is awesome and the sounds awe inspiring. While I have Golden Hum and Villa Elaine, I've never heard anything from the first cd, nor have I seen it. Is it any good?

JK? About Tim and Jeff I lament to post that I've listened to neither of their works but, what you have posted, Mario, about the Buckleys has intrigued me. Eduardo

The Official website has a bar on the top to listen to the songs (Villa Elaine and Golden Hum available). I've done it a few times, I find them enjoyable but not compelling. I guess I'll try to listen to them more when Isidore is out, see if I can hear the Jeffrey Cain touch on both. Quick question: is that story in their biography for real?

Columbus Posts: 867 (10/02/2003 18:02) Glow Worm Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Fernando, thanks for posting the link to their site, It seems a bit out of date but I still LOVE this band mainly because of the vocalist who often strikes me as a cross between the range of Thom Yorke & the grandeur of Freddie Mercury while at the same time delving into lyrical subjects & themes that I feel Church fans would relate to...he's not the lyricist that Kilbey is, but maybe someday? Amanda...I can understand how those 2 CDs may not have struck you as anything special. The self titled is a bit ragged and raw productionwise but there are treasures of songs buried in the murk. I fell in love with Remy Zero through Villa Elaine & it took me a while to find the depth & beauty in the 1st Cd, but trust me, it's there. Golden Hum is the polar opposite in it's production. For ME, it's TOO glossy, too slick & it's lost some edge for that. I've seen some live footage from the shows (they shared an episode of HBO's music show Reverb with Coldplay) where the songs from Golden Hum were SOOOOOOO much better in the live, more emotional performances. It's not a bad record by any means, it's just a bit sterile. Try again...or look for Villa Elaine. That WILL convince you that they are a band to watch. If the collaboration with Kilbey doesn't, that is. Does anyone ever watch the WB TV show Smallville? The show about a teenage Clark Kent as he discovers his identity as Superman? The theme song for the show, Save Me, is Remy Zero from the Golden Hum CD. Fernando....no, the story in the biography is all fiction. There is no one named Remy Zero, the name comes from a misheard lyric in the Kate Bush song Army Dreamers. Remove this ad There is a gentleman that Heatherspace & I work with who has been a big fan of the Smallville show...we convinced him to listen to more Remy Zero so he downloaded some offline....& now listens to almost NOTHING else.
