Elbow and their previous albums haven´t really opened to me before. I don´t know what it was, maybe I just thought their stuff was somehow simple. Now this new album has been very enjoyable.  Opener Birds is a very good 8 minute prog-hymn and there is plenty more hymns. Quality stuff.

I wouldn´t call that a review yet. Anyway, the simplicity of the songs is still there. Some of the songs are really sparse and maybe even minimalistic. Offers more contrast to the uplifting "religious" parts. I have never been much of a church-visitor but listening to this album feels like being in a mass.

I remember that CouldBeAnyone mentioned somewhere that she used Elbow as gym music. Now, I like Elbow and soon I will have all their albums. I can still say that Elbow is pretty much the worst kind of gym music IMO. usually they have very slow pace, then some sudden tempo changes with heavy guitar bursts and then a lot of slow meandering and wandering before the next burst. I just felt that Elbow was just the ultimate anti-gym music. Maybe Talk Talk could top it.

Leaders Of The Free World has been on my rotation a lot recently. Harder side 1 and then easier side 2. Their best sides on one album.
