In a recent Mojo magazine feature her business manager was asked when the new album might be released, the reply was "how long is a piece of string?" it's not that i would be really "waiting" for a new album (this is as rewarding as waiting for a new Mark Hollis CD), but it could be very interesting, with generations of Bush clones and heavily influenced artists came and went since 1993. i never really could decide if i could stand her music and voice, but regarding this, i play her quite often... jj

Columbus Posts: 814 (05/20/2003 21:45) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	that's cool that you don't know if you can stand her voice, and yet play her songs quite often. i only know that Running up the Hill, deal with God song, which is an infectious groove. another person expressing them self in an outlandish, theatric way, like Bjork. perhaps not. based on her manager's quote, i'd say this album will be ready in 3 years. i like her voice.

(now THAT would be a dream cooperation...) and yes, her voice, the voice that has been described as something between Patti Smith and a vacuum cleaner...i'd say The Sensual World is one of my favourite recordings...lots of textures, instruments and interesting things going on

Perfect Child Posts: 353 (05/23/2003 03:46) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	her music can be really really scary. from "Night scented stock" to "under ice". amazing, real horror! my favourite track is "the fog"; also probably the greatest and most intensive song about childhood and being frightened; monster-free and beautiful. the more i think about the more i have to say, yes, i am a big fan ;-)) cloudbusting - one of the best clips, indeed.... why is everyone happy in the end, i mean: the inventor and the girl? because the great machine is working? it's one of these clips that really seem to make sense, and when i start thinking about it, i get confused -

Posts: 337 (05/23/2003 09:08) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I believe Kate Bush is one of the top artist of modern music: sure, her voice can get on your nerves sometimes, especially in the first album, but starting with "the dreaming" she really pulled herself in a league of her own, in the company of people like Peter Gabriel and David Sylvian and other musicians busy on exploring new avenue of expression, oblivious to genres and convention. She writes beautiful, suggestive songs, sometimes very moving ("This woman's works", as Amanda said, being one of the best along with "He's the one"), sometimes full of energy, sometimes dark and scary. She has been a huge influence on lot of new female singer with Tori Amos as the most massively inspired (bordering on plagiarism on some of her earlier work). I know that she isn't well known in the US so i urge all of you stateside to check some of her works: i prefeer her last four albums, but all of her output is impressive. And she made really beautiful video, sometimes very sexy but a far cry from the soft porn for kids of today. Maurizio

Favourite tracks from her: "Wuthering Heights", "Cloudbusting", "Hounds of Love", "Running Up That Hill" and, my all-time favourite, "And Dream of Sheep" which I've recently re-discovered and currently have in rotation.

I respect it infinitely. The Sensual World - my head knows Hounds of Love's greatness, but my heart wants The Sensual World, this erotic, weird dream. The Dubliners' John Sheehan and the Trio Bulgara on one record...incredible. "The Fog" is my favourite Kate track... there are many songs about teenage angst, this is one of the rare rare infant angst songs that doesn`t play with monsters etc. hits me deeply in the marrow. how a child comes to realize and experience the environment..."The day I learned to swim/He said, 'Just put your feet down child'. .. . The water is only waist high/I'll let go of you gently/Then you can swim with me." Beautiful!! I have it in my eternal top 20 songs somewhere.. I bought "The Red Shoes" in 1993 and was disappointed. Where was the mystery? 12 years later, now, i discovered musch beautiful music on this on and think about doing a heavy, psychedelic version of the title track, a la Screaming Trees... imagine that jig rhythm plus distorted guitars and crashing drums.. Just thought to add that maybe she has drafted Axl Rose to do backing vocals. To prepare for new album all of her 7 albums have been in heavy rotation lately and all I can say is that Im ready! I want Aerial now! Kate favorites at the moment: 1. Cloudbusting 2. The Man with the Child in his Eyes 3. Suspended in Gaffa 4. Dont push your Foot on the Heartbrake 5. Moments of Pleasure And Wuthering Heights always there of course...

Click on the link to hear it. Look down the page a bit until you see the Kate Bush story, click on the link that says "Listen Again." It's 38 minutes into the program, so you can skip ahead in two 15 minute increments and one 5 minute increment (you should end up at a Roxy Music song for about three minutes). It's picky about the real player you're using, so if having troubles connecting, click on "help with listening" and download their version of the real player. Thanks to Muscula at another site. First reaction was that this is not so special. But maybe it will grow on me like most of Kates work have. They always do. All Kate Bush-forums are packed and people raving about it. There was 170 users online in ezboards The Homeground when I checked yesterday.
