Today I've been listening to AENT in the car. Found some drum and backing stuff I've never noticed before.
In the afternoon, I'll listen again to THE HELIO SEQUENCE's 2000 album "COM PLEX" which is just fabulous. If you don't believe Shoegazing can be intricate, funny and quirky, you might check it out. There's so much going on, with a natural beauty Broken Social Scene will never achieve. Bo, I remember Propaganda, of course, I guess they were more popular outside Germany. Big Bloated Production with some gorgeous moments. Dated in a nice way. I'd love a remaster of that one... |

Today, at some stage, I'm going to listen to "Today" by Ride, one of the greatest songs ever comitted to a shiny silicon thing.
And also the new Shins, Bloc Party and Explosions In The Sky albums, to work out whether: a) James Mercer is one of the best lyricists around; b) Kele Okereke is one of the worst lyricists around; c) Fuck lyrics, just RRRROOOOKKKKKKKKKKK! I really need a decent sig.

wasn't Altres the band starring in that movie about the red submarine? They're truly the Klezmatics of the White Power movement.

EMS and Simple Intent for the first time. They came after many weeks from other side of the world. Cases are unbroken, look nice and EMS sounds like a dream.
After that local radio to catch the latest hottest indie darlings. The Shins, The Decemberists etc. When they start to play Morrissey (they always do) and/or Smiths (they always do), time for Simple Intent. |

Today I'm shuffling some favorites in the computer at work, the playlist is all over the place, including the folllowing:
Midnight Oil Danza Invisible La Castaeda Caifanes Pink Floyd Jaguares The Psychedelic Furs Zemfira Duran Duran Fine Young Cannibals Manolo Garca La Barranca Dire Straits Chikita Violenta Soda Stereo U2 The Clash Til Tuesday La Unin Wang Chung Zo Gustavo Cerati F.R. David Genesis etc.... A combination that some might call heretical eccentricity, but it's simply my eclectic hedonism. There are even some Church songs in that playlist, but they are not in today's shuffle. "Such... is the respect paid to science that the most absurd opinions may become current, provided they are expressed in language, the sound of which recalls some well-known scientific phrase" James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879) Be a scientist, save the world Rick Smalley (1943-2005) |

today it is snowing in Montana, listing to the Church, designing a new Mining Geology and Petroleum Engineering Building for Montana Tech at the University of Montana in Butte.
Daydreaming about far off places, Palm Springs desert, The Royal Mile, Central Park and the Guggenheim Museum, south central Vermont. I really like song in the afternoon, but SK sounds like he's making fun of Bono on bordello. |
