There's e.g. G Honey Sunshine Noble:
e--3
b--3
g--2
d--0
A--2
E--x
Hit it hard or tenderly, it's always like a beam of sunshine, a chord like a smile. A chord like a good single malt, round and warm, and it dissolves nicely into D or e... I stumbled across this chord a long time ago, and was amazed to fund out Andy Partridge used it for the beginning of Easter Theatre's chorus (continuing with D and A/C#)
Or there's F# Muscular Vitriolic Stubborn
Now this one you have heard so often, you might think of it as clich, don't you? Nevertheless, it's (1) very cool to hide it in your song and (2) eeeeezy to play! It's E's grumpy, smart uncle, just the kind of person you like to argue with your dad and winning.
e--0
b--0
g--3
d--4
A--4
E--2
yannnggg!! There he goes! Awesome to play the lower 3 as a power chord and then do a bit of the old jingle jangle with the upper strings! The apotheosis of F# muscular vitriolic stubborn is on the Cocteau Twins *magical* Moon & Melodies album, when Harold Budd transfers it to his woozy piano and then just letting it float to E. Nice!
And of course c# droney lost and lonely!
e--0
b--0
g--6
d--6
A--4
E--0
This is so desolate and sad - like a love gone wrong, a sad thought from the past creeping up in your mind. Use it in your songs when you level it with happy stuff. Of course every true Church fan knows it. Sing "Back in Metropolis", then slide it down two frets, add A and land on E, yeah! woohoo, it's "Metropolis" (real Metropolis, and not the cheat on EMD!!)
Three of my best friends!
What are your favourite chords?

?It's part of the beginning of "Essence" I believe.
