SK - "dabble" PK - "Love Era/Irony" MWP - "Hanging Out in Heaven" ...and pick up The Refo:mation "parmakoi/distance-crunching honchos with echo units" while you're at it. I would have put SK's Unearthed, PK's Water Rites and MWP's Art Attack on the same first rank. If you want to consider side-projects as well, I would put Jack Frost's Snow Job, Margot Smith's Taste and Refomation's Pharmakoi on the top ranks. I like them much better than the solo works I mentioned above. Regarding only solo works, it's easy for me now: Dabble dabble dabble dabble dabble dabble It just tops all other solo releases.

Here's what else I have: SK-Remindlessness SK-Slow Crack SK-Unearthed MWP-Hanging Out In Heaven PK-Manchild and Myth (rather underrated, in my opinion...) PK-From the Well Hex-Vast Halos (pretty damaged cassette...need to replace) Years ago, I had Hex I and Jack Frost I, and an old housemate had Art Attack, but its been so long, I would need to have my memory refreshed. SPirit Level IMHO is the best of the 3 that I have, I like Andy "Dare" Mason's strange production (which also pops up on SA/SE),HOIH hits the highest highs and the lowest lows...Sanctuary and Watching Us are awesome, I Don't Think So,Goodbye,and a few others are crap. I just got PK's From The Well and I think I might like it better than MWP's stuff (which surprised me). The fake sounding drums make it sound really dated..and the vocals by PK and Melodie sound off key (but likable),but almost all of the songs (except the 2 awful ones sung by Melodie and some kids) have a great sense of melody and cheerfulness. I'm getting Manchild/Myth next.

SK-Acoustic & Intimate I have everything Marty's done solo, nearly everything Steve has done except Narcosis which is backordered, and have only heard Peter's From the Well, which I played relentlessly on the air. I'm out to get Peter's series next. ps. Seeing Stars and Jack Frost are worth owning for a few life times as well.

Space Saviour Posts: 2377 (02/16/2002 22:50) Glow Worm Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Fav solo: LIVE: MWP 'Water In the Desert' @ Cactus Cafe SK - 'Acoustic & Intimate' ALBUM: MWP: SPIRIT LEVEL is really good throughout. It has great soft stuff (Scandinavian Stare, Adelle Yvonne/Saddest House In Stockholm(which is great!)), it has good poppy stuff (I Can't Cry, Will I Start To Bleed, Even Though You Are My Friend) and the rockin' 'Luscious Ghost'. His HANGING OUT IN HEAVEN cd is consistantly good also - despite an earlier comment I think 'I Don't Think So' is a beautiful and poignant song. 'After Eight', 'Sean Shany' and 'Waves Toward the Moon' are chillingly beautiful; 'Forget The Radio' is a great pop song. SK: I just bought DABBLE so can't comment on that yet... Unearthed has some great moments (once you get past the dated drum machine) such as 'Judgement Day' and 'Othertime'. His SLOW CRACK album is good too, with my fav SK song 'Transaction'. EARTHED is basically UNEARTHED without singing - instrumental stuff, but totally worth it just for the SK poetry book enclosed; really good! PK's best is LOVE ERA/IRONY with the hidden intro track of ambient music; he really seems to have found the right place for his voice on this album. THE WELL has some good stuff on it also - beautiful music like 'Arabia'. His FROM THE WELL album has it's good nd bd. The kids singing really bothers me (yuck). 'Countdown To One' is a cool song and usually lands on my Church compilations. SOLO: Either HEX album (SIK & Donnette Thayer) is gold - get a copy! Either JACK FROST - get it! REFO:MATION - GET IT! It's the Church w/out Marty, very cool studio improvised songs - excellent! SEEING STARS - really good rock stuff by MWP and the two guys from All About Eve.
