I've got MWP's Spirit Level which I think is good but not great and the first Jack Frost which fares the same imho. And then I've got Isidore which I think is awesome. Where-to from here? I do not like all of it, but parts of it are HIGHLY recommended Sk Unearthed Refomation - especially for "The moon and the sea" Sk Narcosis + Some of the bonus tracks are among the best, and i always enjoy Track 1 MWP Rhyme - Was generally my favorite MWP release, though do not listen to it much these days PK - Simple Intent - my favorite PK release Hex - both are essential, in my opinion. Jack Frost - 2nd one is just as good as the first, though perhaps more of a "grower". Definitely worth to track down. Sk - Acoustic and Intimate - I was bit surprised how much I enjoyed this release. Very nice listening SK - Freaky Conclusions. Inconsistent, but some very worthwhile tracks, especially full version of "an arrangement" and "she me we" Ones I was not too crazy about... Gilt Trip - except for "ointments smeared...." this tracks justified the purchase for me, but its the only track I LOVE on that release MWP Hanging out in Heaven. Quite uneven, in my opinion, though still worthwhile. PK - From the Well, Love/Era Irony - Still trying to warm up to these ones SK - Dabble. A few great songs, but honestly, I expected more from this one. Sk - Earthed - Also quite uneven in my opinion. This is just off top of my head, I am sure I missed many (even ones I have), but thats all the time I got for now. Have fun tracking all these down.

Kind of Intersection of sets - a record like a dream; you wonder if it had been recorded in a state of consciousness. obviously not. and "The Moon & The Sea" is my favourite song anyway. Just beautiful. Then, acolyte, get Steve Kilbey's "Remindlessness". Delve deeply into a world of Kilbean fantasy, stories and surreal songwriting. Let the 9 minutes of the Celebration of the Birthday of the Elephant God drag you into the world of Churchling solo weirdness. The violin of Soul Sample take you away. The innocent jangle of Random Pan evoke the experiences of early childhood christmas eves. Let the druggy maelstrom of Lysergic Africa enter your mind. Just get Remindlessness. Then get MWP's "Rhyme". Watch the man try to rebuild French symbolist poetry and fail in a magnificient way - but the songs he created on this journey are awesome. Just enjoy this man's joy of reading Rimbaud, Camus and Verlaine. Maybe you're ready for a bit of Koppes now. You're a Church fan ergo yyour brain's a working unit. So you can divide the cheesy 80es arrangements from the great songs they cover. Get PK's "MAnchild and Myth". Let the multiple guitars of "Comes as no surprise" bury you. If you want to take the easy road, get his "Love Era/Irony". Good rocking blast of a record. Hugely satisfying overcoming of an inferiority complex. And now, proceed to Noctorum. MWP's best solo work. No words needed; people who don't recognize the perfect pop qualities of High As A Kite should stick to their Johnny Mathis stuff. Quickly, find a copy of skS slOw crAck - containing 2 of the greatest songs ever. Favourite Pack of Lies and Something That Means Somethig. Somehow archetypical pop songs. then, get them all!! Senseless working overtime

Space Saviour Posts: 1575 (08/25/2005 18:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Of the solo stuff you do not have that I listen to most: SK: Remindlessness Dabble Narcosis + Some (if you're gonna get it, get the newest reissue) The Slow Crack (same as above re: reissue) Acoustic & Intimate (I'd get the others first because they have new stuff on them and this has a lot of versions of songs you already have . But it's one of my favorites as SK's obviously having a good time and you really get a different view of the songs.) MWP: Hanging Out In Heaven Rhyme (like Spirit Level, I always skip a few songs on each album) And I'm a bad Churchie because I don't really listen to my PK cd's often enough to really form an opinion of which are better. I'm so ashamed. KIABGOA

I guess I always think of it as a Church album (sorry Marty !) I know it isn't. Well I think I might go for a cocktail of Narcosis and Rhyme and wash it down with some Remindlessness maybe. See if that makes me feel better. Otherwise I'm just going to have to increase the dosis . Thanks again for your help.

Othertime, Heliopolis, Out Of This World, Tyrant, Famine, Nothing Inside and.... My Birthday, The Moon Festival stand out for me and are songs that have stayed fresh for (gasp), going on 20 years now... MWP - Spirit Level, Rhyme, Hanging Out in Heaven and Live from the Other Side Side Projects The Refo:mation, Noctorum, Hex, Isidore, Jack Frost (1st album), The Crystal Set - Umbrella, Mae Moore - Bohemia. Then get MWP - In Reflection, SK - Earthed and Dabble and then everything else. And if you don't have a turntable set up still there are lots of deals on old vinyl for the older stuff at least but then again most of the Kilbey solo material is now remastered onto CD only. I'm going thru a "Return to Vinyl phase - It rocks" Glenn
