I knew what it was, but not exactly... The only thing I knew was that gift was important to me. Then, when I left my work in the afternoon, I went there anxiously, almost running. Then, after a long waiting (because there were a lot of people), they gave me a small box containing 8 cd's!! Then I left the post office quickly and got an empty bus, I sat down and... I couldn't wait... I oppened the box and I found seven fabulous records (one for each day of the week!): "Remindlessness" by Steve Kilbey (the remastered edition!): beautiful, nothing more, nothing less. "Simple intent" by Peter Koppes: I like this record, but I think the following is better: The Well, Water Rites: perfect from the beginning to the end. This is the first time I listened a solo record by PEter, so it is a novelty to me. "Dabble", by Steve again: mmmm... I like this, but not too much... Is "loki" a song or an experiment? "Blessed one" is very beautiful, but perhaps I need more time to "digest" this whole record because I can't believe I don't like it much... I think "Unearthed" is infinitely better... "Live from the other side" by MWP (my guitar God): what can I say? If I said something, anything, wouldn't be enough to describe it. It didn't surprised me because I didn't imagine less from him... I thought the poem by Lorca perhaps would be in Spanish, but it wasn't... And finally... there it was: the record I have been waiting for five years... "Hanging out in heaven": I was there, in the bus, touching that front cover which I had been watching so many times in the internet... Then I played it in that very moment: "Forget the radio" : Qu temazo!! ("what a big song" in spanish), an excellent beginning, and now those lyrics are almost an "instruction handbook" to me. I can't stop singing it (at home, at work, walking in the streets of Buenos Aires). "Wondering" is so significant to me: "...I want to think about you know, I never left you long..." "...I think about you every morning even when you've gone..." "...Wondering if I'll ever see you, I think I will..." Those phrases represent just the things I'm feeling since... many months ago... I know I didn't listen to all Marty's solo work, but considering the five records I have got now, I think perhaps "Sanctuary" is the best song he wrote until now. Love that melody, that chorus! These are my first impressions, but I need more time to listen to all the records. Now I have to say that I'm really really really happy to have them all! I remember when I got it back in 2002, I actually liked it immediately (of course, I was also very excited Steve had finally released a new solo CD after 10 years), but I can understand where someone who is more familiar with "Unearthed" and "Remindlessness" might be disappointed at first. Let it grow on you a while. I also love The Well: Water Rites and I'm so glad I found out about it because I wouldn't have known Peter had anything to do with it from the band name. I still need to get "Live From the Other Side", but haven't been willing to fork out the $30 import price. I'm really surprised it's not available locally here in the U.S. because I thought Heyday records released it, but apparently it was only released on Um & Ah records in Australia. "Sanctuary" is a gorgeous song, and bittersweet to me personally. I heard Marty's early solo CDs, "Art Attack", "Rhyme" and "Spirit Level" for the first time back in late 1994, and that was a very good time in my life, when things were finally turning around for the better after going through a year of depression. I still went to my grandparents to visit over the weekends then, and a lot of those MWP songs were part of my life soundtrack back then. When HOIH came out, in 2000, things had changed a lot. My grandma was in the early stages of dementia, and I was not welcome to visit anymore, because she believed I was taking things from her. For the first time in my life, I wasn't going over to my grandparents' for the weekends anymore, and it was a sad time for me. For some reason, that particular song, "Sanctuary", brought back a flood of memories from those happy times in late 1994, even though the song was new to me, and to this day, it still does remind me of both late 1994 and spring of 2000. "Forget the Radio" is also a great song, and very true! I much prefer playing my CDs to listening to the radio, any day. Enjoy your new CDs! "Fly, the sky is your friend And its holding you up again and again, High over the night Where I labour and write this song once over again..."

To me, this whole record ("Hanging out...") has got a big significande not only because I've been waiting (and hunting) for it since 2000, but also because the lyrics describe exactly, perhaps not by accident, things I'm feeling nowadays, frustrations, sad feelings, dreams that perhaps won't never come true... Anyway... I've been listening to the other record which came from heaven ( ): a bootleg Church concert in Chicago in 2004: excellent sound and very good track list. They start with the music from "Blaade runner" (!!!), and they play a lot of good songs, for example: "numbers", "maya" (love this song), "Reptile" (Marty's guitar doesn't sound as powerful as the song needs ), "Destination", "Under the milky...", "Myrrh", "You took" (mmm... drums... ) Noelia "Time waits for you and I do, too"
