He has made both maps, the big "Berlin"- map and Miracle Street- map. Berlin-map could be of any city but the names are almost Berlin. There is no Uckow or Uckow damm in Berlin but there is Buckow and Buckow damm. There is West Kreuz in Berlin but it doesnt look like the one in the map. There is no Marienberg in Berlin but there is Marienburg. Also there is no Tempelberg but there is Tempelhof. I think this was a nod to David Bowie and his Berlin trilogy. To me this meant that Earthed is sort of continuation of Bowies Low-albums second side that is all instrumental and it has similar kind of moods than Earthed. Chrome3d testbench

I just think that Bowie was quite big influence on young SK and it shows here and there. I think that at least Bowie/Eno/Visconti dabbling with Krautrock and ambient introduced SK to german artists that he would not have otherwise explored in early 80s. What is interesting that the recording of Low was started in France and there is one word in French: Les Taudis (the slums). I can imagine that the lyrics and music of The Church and solostuff was inspired by acts such as Bowie, Pink Floyd and Tolkien. I dont have to like all those influences in order to like The Church. "I was down in the city on a miracle street". This seems to be a recurring source of inspiration as it appears in Earthed map too. Is there a street with a name like that or is it just a shopping street? Red light district? A street with a church? Chrome3d testbench

There is a West Berlin (at the times Earthed was released) and Kreuzberg. EVerything puhretty obvious. Bowie comparison - I think you might be pretty right with your connotation. Never thought about it before. Bowie is an artist I just never "got". I don't loathe him like Queen, you might find me even listening to Low, Heroes, Ziggy or some random best-of. Some of it I really like, but it fails to "connect" with me. The penny has dropped. Thanks!! ...because strange is what we need Fandorinfotos
