Review in Uncut June 2007:
Brix Smith:Neurotica
Loser Friendly Records
**, 2 stars out of 5
Former Fall star returns to song
In the 80s , with her first husband, Mark E Smith, Brix Smith brought peppy melody and glamour to The Fall and briefly bloomed in her own band, The Adult Net. These days she co-runs Start, an East London fashion boutique. A pretty tune still comes easily to Smith, who wrote and recorded Neurotica last year alongside Marty Piper-Willson

formerly of The Church.

But this is a rusty collection, hampered by pedestrian jangling and dodgy similes. "My self-respect is slipping like the sand
in the hourglass", she sings on "Joys of You". Its no surprise to learn that the label had to persuade Smith to release it.

The Church Myspace says:
BRIX SMITH
Due for release online VERY SOON, a new Brix album produced by Dare Mason, co-written with Marty Willson-Piper who also performs guitar and vocals and with Tim on drums, something not to be missed. As we they say ... stay tuned.

That last sentence in Uncut-review explains a lot why Brix doesnt have a website or even Myspace. Her labels site says that the album is out but has no description what kind of stuff it is. I hope the pedestrian jangling is not from Marty. How could it be, hes the janglemeister.
