Posts: 170 (11/25/2001 08:56) Glow Worm Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : kilbeyside, koppesside Remove this ad I can't remember ever reading of Margot Smith on the Womb, but I think her recordings are worth a listen. She has released two albums, "From the Lions Mouth" (somewhere around 1992) and "Taste" (came out the same time as Refo:mation, I think). I hardly listen to her first album, but "Taste" is fantastic. Except from Marty, the whole church band is involved in playing and Steve in the songwriting. I can't really describe how it sounds, but from all side projects I would rank it as one of the best (besides Refo:mation and Jack Frost's Snow Job). Great voice, great guitars, great atmosphere. Space Saviour Posts: 2161 (12/02/2001 04:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just had to reply to this Jens, as I would probably be one of the biggest Margot Smith fans around. For anyone interested, please check out my fan site at www.users.bigpond.com/kascam for more information or go to the official site www.margotsmith.com The debut album was 'SLEEPING WITH THE LION' and was produced by Steve Kilbey (and Eddie Raynor from Split Enz.) The 2nd album 'TASTE' though quite different was also brilliant. There is a great single available called 'Bleedmore' which is worth tracking down if you want to have a listen as it also contains the live versions of the fantastic 'Adored' and 'Lifetime' tracks from the first album. TASTE is readily available still but SLEEPING WITH THE LION will be much harder to track down. Both albums are a must-have in my opinion and would easily be in my Top 10. Sue C

Margot is a true original, both vocally and lyrically, and PK's guitar accompaniment is nothing less than stunning. I finally tracked down her first album, Sleeps With The Lion, it wasn't easy and it wasn't cheap, but WELL worth it!

Perfect Child Posts: 375 (12/13/2001 21:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I spent a number of years living around the Newtown/Redfern area of Sydney and would often see Margot at her local 'The Town Hotel' in Sydney. I found her very approachable and have had a number of conversations with her. I don't know if she's still living in that area - perhaps Sue would know - if she is and you're in the area go and say hello. Rod. P.S. Sleeping With The Lion is an excellent album.

I was disappointed that I missed her on my last visit to Sydney as she came to the last Church Basement gig and I was there the night before! She's such a great person to meet too. If anyone needs to hear some of Margot's music, please let me know so I can organise an mp3for a listen as she really is BRILLIANT...and SK, PK and Tim have played on her 2 albums so that's worth a listen isnt it? Well, there is now her myspace site where you can hear some of her songs. Margot is presently living in Melbourne, I've caught up with her a few times, she's a dear friend. She's been through some pretty rough patches, health and personal lately and sadly for lovers of her music, there isnt any albums in the future BUT she is going to record for Tony Pucci's 'Songs for Jenny' cd project which is something Im really looking forward to. Sue
