Dare Mason is producing the next solo album for Marty Willson-Piper at the VIP Lounge in Penzance.
NIGHTJAR has 12 string acoustic, some bass, some lead vocals, all the drums, accordian and whistles.... a mixture of stripped bare acoustic songs and haunting epics, WITH a pop song or two thrown in! This will be a keeper, so keep an eye out for any more whispers.

Yeah! This season's second solo album. I admire Mr Mason's producing skills, and most music that has left the VIP lounge sounds extremely beautifully.

Rumours say that Mr. Powles is also dealing with a musical monologue...

"the church- Tim toured through Europe with the band all of April, starting in Budapest and finishing with some outstanding shows (electric) in the UK The band are looking at a new album recording session in late September..

Post the euro trip Tim has test driven the new studio gear with a fast and furious solo album session for fellow churchman Steve Kilbey Tentatively titled Painkiller, this bunch of 13 tracks grew from jams with master mastering wiz William Bowden- king of radiotronics and static ambience, some beats n buzzes from the timEbandit, Kilbeys magic.... and voila- now awaiting mixing.

TimEbandit solo - somewhere in the nether regions of lost time and those extra hours after 99 past 12, Tim has been finding files n feelings to throw towards a new solo cd for himself- collaborating with anyone who dares say yes- ....

The Live Room- Tim tracked a cool version of The Waterboys "whole of the moon" with electric 5 string violinist Indi Star and singer/guitarist Mouse- the Irish connection is alive!!!

David Skeet has mixed various projects at Spacejunk, including Shelley Harland, a debut album for Chasing the SUN, and solo tracks for guitarist James Harland. David also ably jumped into the mix chair for a few on Doc Neesons album, and recorded an acoustic track for daughters of psychadelia Bright Red."

i was wondering if you knew something about a new peter koppes solo album or something ,his are becoming more rare,i wish he would maybe do this accoustic based album i been hearing about.

Yes Fandorin, that Nightjar title is indeed a bit misleading title for non-english people. At first I thought Nightjar means chamberpot, but then googling revealed that its actually a bird:

I think I will not be the last person to make this connection.

I don´t quarantee any of this. Song for Victor Jara? That is an old song? I thought "Sniper" was old one too, but it was "Striker" that is on "Offer the Light"
Marty´s myspace has those last lines but no names of any songs.

He performs "Song For Victor Jara" on his "Live From the Other Side" CD from 2004, but I don't think it's ever been formally recorded in a studio yet.

I went to Martys website looking for recent info on Nightjar, but it seems Marty again needs to pay the domainregistration-fee. There was just this chick looking at me and I couldn´t figure out if she was "Belly dancer", "Child Party Entertainer" or a "Geisha"!

yep, this is the one i`m really interested in, even more than painkiller and dare i say it the next church album,marty always delivers something really wonderful, i wasnt over the moon with ultc, but hey so what, i`m kinda hoping the next one from the church will be a bit moody,and different again,anyone got ANY news on where nightjar is at, if the track record is anything to by, it wont see the light of day for a while

Former The Church guitarist, Marty Willson-Piper releases his new solo album, 'Nightjar' which is set for release through his label, In Deep. After two diverse albums from his ongoing Noctorum collaboration in 2003 & 2006 respectively, it has been some time since the last solo studio album 'Hanging Out In Heaven' in 2000. 2004 did see Marty release a 22 track live recording of, 'From The Other Side', but he soon realised that 10 new songs had "crept up on him in the night" and had been featuring in live sets but hadn't yet been recorded. Marty hits the road on a short solo tour before he heads back overseas. This is his only Melbourne show!

I hope RRW of Heyday Records doesn't mind me posting this. From a recent email he sent to me:
