This album I listen to more then any other. I am surprised that I haven't worn it out yet. I listen to it even more then HOB.
This is not an easy album to like. It certainly is not one that you would introduce new fans to. Yet if I could contradict myself, it is one of the easiest albums to listen to. It is so SUBLIME from 1:07 through Stop.
The whole thing just fits together so nice and perfectly, with little or no effort. Parts of this c.d are very sparse and exposed, while other sections are so layered and textured with sounds that you can't help but drift away.
I get the feeling that Steve, Peter and Tim had not planned this gem. Everything I've read about the production of this disc, was very improvised and spontaneous.
If there is filler on this album, it is well disguised. I have stopped differentiating between songs, so I'm not going to break them apart piece by piece. IMO, there are no low spots or high spots. This is one of the most uniform and consistent albums from these guys.
Short of Numbers, which I am still sticking to as the best Church song of all time, The Refo:mation disc is my favorite album from these guys, hands down. That's where my taste are at.
