I swear I looked for this topic and (somewhat surprisingly) I didn't find it. Anyway, let's get down to it:
What is your all-time favorite Church song?
Preferably not solo material, just The Church, include The Refo:mation if you will, as many do, and in fairness for PK's absence in some albums.
I'd like to try an experiment in this thread: let's see if we can keep it restrained to the topic as stated above and always on topic, just mention your favorite song, and explain why it is your favorite if you want, then allow everyone else to reply on their own, no second-guessing nor opinions on other people's choices.
If you can't narrow it down to just one song do your best to narrow it down as much as possible, and then do your best to list those favorites in a preference order.
If you can't narrow it down that much post your few most favorite Church songs in no particular order.
But if a particular solo-song is one of your all-time favorites it's still Church related, feel free to mention it, or mention a few favorite solo and side project songs along with your Church choices.
An unrestricted reply should be better than no reply.
That's because the second part of the experiment is seeing if everyone that visits this thread would be so kind as to post a reply, let's see how many out of >460 registered wombers want to reply to this.
This can easily become the longest thread in HW if we all participate
To make that easier to happen if you need to revise your initial choice feel free to add it in a later reply.
If you must comment in other people's choice for all time favorite Church song there is a sister thread to this one, "Toughts about favorite Church songs", which was started a few days later (and the link added here on edit).
You can of course dismiss the suggested rules and have this thread going wherever it goes as always, but let's see if we can keep this short and to the point to facilitate that everyone can get a quick glimpse of the choices.
Having said all that, let me start with the topic:
-----
My all-time favorite Church song is still The Time Being, is hard to explain why. I liked it from the first time I heard it, I like the music, I like the fact that it doesn't have a chorus, I like the lyrics especially, and in my mind I've built upon the years an ever more detailed storyboard with the images that the lyrics mention and suggest. I sometimes relax by listening to it and reviewing the images it evokes in me.
I do not think this is the quintessential or even a representative Church song, but is my favorite.
And now that I've taken that pseudonym I somehow like it even more.
Note: On a second edit I loosened up some of the initial restrictions to see if we get more participation
