Be prepared for some ground breaking sounds in this new addition to the church discography, the new album is a wild tangent from Parallel Universe, splattered with elements of their rock roots." I think those vague descriptions could mean anything... and our own subjective likes and dislikes will mould our expectations... Either way, every Church release has moved on from the last in ways I least expected, whilst still remaining firmly marked as a "Church" release... so I am happy to let them guide me down the garden path... There hasn't been an album yet that I didn't like. And with the high level of creativity they've been showing for the last year or so I imagine this one may be really good. My thing about PU was just that it wasn't the Church - it was other artists (except for cd2). As long as the new album sounds like the Church (or more importantly feels like the Church) it will be good. dw

Posts: 2995 (01/17/2003 16:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The new album will be a wild tangent from what already was a wild tangent for The Church... sounds interesting. If "splattered with elements of their rock roots" means that the "more rock and rolly songs" of the sessions were preferentially selected I'd be pleased, if that isn't it I'd buy it anyway. As with //U I've decided to expect nothing so I shall not be disappointed. I think that if I had tried to form an opinion about what //U would and should be I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did by listening without preconceived notions and taking it for what it is. I like //U-R but I can agree that in a sense it's not a Church album, but it's still worth the price from the Mixture disc alone.

Your statement wasn't in the least bit harsh and as a matter of fact I completely agree with it. If the new album sounds like Remixture it will be filed away to collect dust with PU and AENT. I hope that the new album blows me away like 90% of the band's back catalog but I'll wait and reserve judgement when I'm actually able to hear something from the sessions. bandini

Always refreshing & great to hear new material, and each album as a result has become a classic in & of itself... I can't wait to hear the new stuff!

I will be great to hear the finished product in July and see if all our speculation even comes close to describing or anticipating the exact direction of the new album. With the paint still drying on the canvas, and Tim adding some final touches the new album is continuing to take shape on the desk at Spacejunk studio's. Tim is stepping back from the canvas for a week, to do some mixing on David Lanes upcoming album, (A project booked into Spacejunk long ago)He will then resume where he left off next week. Unfortunately with all this happening, We will be waiting a little longer on the Jam CD. I'll let you know, when I do. The sketched tour plans for the new album are...AUST/NZ: JULYSEPT, UK/EUROPE: SEPTOCT, USA: OCTNOV, and possibly STH AMERICA: LATE NOV and ASIA: DEC, 2003. No specifics yet exist. As soon as things lock in I'll let everyone know. NEW ALBUM RELEASE DATE .:: 09/05/2003 ::. by M. For everywhere except Nth America it appears that things are on track for the mid August release date. For those in Nth America waiting for the album, it looks like a mid September release.

Oh, well, I have no idea if and when I'll be anywhere in Mxico at that time, but a friend of mine would like it if they played in Monterrey (actually if they did I would definitely do my best effort go see them in my hometown).

I hope to hop sky-bus and see the church in the big fruit, oct-or-nov. the news left me confused. Nth America = north america right? then the other info says USA oct or and nov. perhaps the church will hit Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico (Iraq)?
