Should I send an email to Robert Rankin Walker? In those times of hurry up and fast medias it became harder to waitwait wait wait wait..and the trick is that the Cd is avalaible through HeydayMail order who are based in UK so i guess they ship quickly to France and Europe in general !.I hate to complain and be whiney but it's really boring. p.s:As i'm writing this Fandorin you should receive your CD copy before me, as I ordered mine mid-november. You lucky bastard !

At first the CD album art didn't look so great from websites but in real life it looks really cool how the same kind of exotic orange photos are spread around the 6-panel digipack and the portraits of Marty and Dare on the inside are thought out too. Serious grumpy looking old men create good music here! Tiare and Rachel Gutek sure do quality work. The lyrics booklet is compact and informative. Only 4 pages and all the lyrics are crammed in to 2 pages. Still it looks easy to read as the text is black on white. Good readability of lyrics is a must. No tiny magenta text on violet background, hah hah. ...and to the music. False Flag is an epic opener. 9 minutes of MWP guitar adventures. Excellent. Better Hope rocks too and it's quite familiar by now from the preview tracks. Victorian Vignette is the first one that is something completely different. Chamber pop piece with female vocals and cellos and stuff. I don't mind them being eclectic like VV, although like it has been said before here, this album is more guitar oriented album than previous Nockies. Now after 2 listens I think this album flows really well and I don't think there will be so completely different kind of tracks on this album that I will skip most of the times, like there was with SL and OTL. Mao Tse Tung Kiss is almost hard rock in a good way with Van Halen solos and all. Maybe even Boriah will like it. The New Scientist goes all Living Colour free jazz. Yeah yeah yeah! It´s sometimes like pure guitar/saxophone porn soundtrack. One weirdo jazz fusion noodling is just the right amount for one album. Good good stuff. So it's nothing but grooving to the tune of poptastic Tora Tora Tora on this wednesday afternoon and I feel fine that quality stuff keeps pouring from the churchy horn of plenty. Unlike the last two reviewers, I've found myself skipping the first two and the last two songs on the album. I will admit that the chorus on False Flag is pretty great and there are a couple lovely musical parts, but man - the lyrics are cliched and banal and the lead ups to the choruses are just interminable. Add to that the overblown, grandiose (yes, as in the similarly overblown tune off MATS) guitar-fuelled conclusion, and... well, yuck. Better Hope You're Not Alone is a bit of capital R Rock. I guess someone who's into this kind of music might find a lot to like - we all know these are very talented, accomplished musicians and songwriters. I can actually deal ok with much of the song, but the in your face classic rock riffage that fills the final two and a half minutes (!) is a perfect example of the sort of hard rock wankery that I love the Church for steering clear from in their music. Ok - now that I've got that out of my system, I do love many of the songs in the middle of the album. Before I realized what the name of the song was, Cry actually did make me tear up - something about the lyrics, melody and the chord changes that really hit me in the gut. Bad Dreams rules, Tora Tora Tora is fun and beautiful and Running Through Your Fingers is just lovely. For the sake of ending on a good note, I'm going to pretend that the last two songs on the album don't exist. Greg

Perfect Child Posts: 209 (01/21/2012 03:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Agreed, for me this is a chance for Marty with Dare to play more of what he/they want without the church aura if you will dictating the sound. So with that in mind I would not be here if it were not for that sound that only the church can make. So for me the solo/side projects represent the individuals contribution to the whole. The middle tracks are very similar to what Marty normally does and trust me that is not a complaint. Marty has been into progressive rock for a long time and I hear this as a homage to that style from his point of view and I know he could care less but he also is demonstrating that he plays that guitar better or just as good as those the get all claim and praise as guitar legends. So for me the Noctorum albums have been very eclectic and I like that about them, but I also like the idea that was explored here and wish the whole album would of went in that direction from a flow standpoint. I really like David Neil for the same reasons it is not what would normally be expected from Steve and yet it works and flows very well for me anyway. I wish Peter was more active on the solo front as well. The sound they make together will always be my 1st preference, I look forward to these releases to hear their individual vision and listen to that within the sum of parts. great topic, Jason

There are some parts and stylistic issues that are somewhat questionable. I find myself also listening especially False Flag from many sides. I still I think that some of the "lovely musical parts" pull the song safely to the good side. Maybe it's just that this a side of Marty has had too few occasions to come out recently. U#23 and Nightjar had a completely different kind of touch. This had to come out. Incidentally I finally ordered a CD of Ultraviolet by All About Eve (one of my 5/5 albums) recently and it's a huge album with incredible guitar adventures and HMF seems to expand from that album. I was just there and all they have is the mp3 download album (which doesn't do me any good, since I can't download music on dial-up). On the other hand, Isidore: Life Somewhere Else is available for pre-order at amazon now (2/21/12), so I pre-ordered that, at least. "Where oblivion is beckoning, where Leviathan is reckoning."

Great comeback Marty!!
