Way off topic Chrome3d but yer know, Karmic Hit should do a remaster of 'Charms And Blues' by Curious Yellow..............One stunner of an album in my opinion. Think I'll drop them a line, one can only hope! Seriously if anyone hasn't heard it, do your best to hunt down a copy- it's one very haunting album, SK is all over it!

I finally ordered and received the Operetta ep and noticed tha there will be an upcoming Kilbey box set, but I am wondering why there is no discussion of The Church 30th anniversary remasters. I didn't see it on second Motion's website, but it is on the little insert in my package. It doesn't give any other information save for that the following will be released as reissues: The Blurred Crusade, Seance, Heyday, Starfish,Gold Afternoon Fix, Priest = Aura and 30th Anniversary Greatest Hits. I was hoping that the last round of reissues a few years ago would be the final versions, but I suppose all of these will be essential in some way as well

ah good to hear - i skipped the last round of reissues, due to "already owning the albums" and unsolved financial questions!

For similar reasons to you Stefan I only got half of the last lot of re-issues. Should keep me out of mischief (& the black) for a couple more years!! |

It's such a shame that we have to live in a world where we are controlled by cost. Back in the days of vinyl, if I liked a certain track, I'd buy the 7", the 12", the re-mix and the album that featured the track. Sad I know, and as SK and church are still relatively new to my life I'm still listening to different versions are various track for the first time, so for me it'll be a definite, and I'll give myself the excuse of it being a belated birthday prezzie to myself. Do we have a price for it though? Not that it really matters, cos both sk and I are worth every cent; I'm just curious

cazziem wrote: There were no prices, and no information other than the listing of what albums are getting the 30th Anniversary treatment, which remains unknown as well. Remastered? Bonus tracks? Radio sessions? Now that I think of it, radio sessions would be great! |

I think the SK box set is a great idea for those who don't have his past work yet, but unless there are some unreleased songs, I'll most likely skip, since I already have all of SK's solo stuff, some of it twice (the originals and KH remasters). I would like to see Church albums like MATS get the remaster treatment, though, and include a second disc which has "Ritz", "White Star Line", and Gypsy Stomp", especially those last 2, since they really need the remaster treatment.
Like Astronboy (he took the words right out of my mouth), I too prefer to have the actual artifact with sleeve notes and artwork etc. Finally, I have to say that I, for one, am not crazy about the whole slimline packaging idea. I appreciate the whole being environmentally conscious thing, but in the case of CDs, especially for the collector like me, I am not going to throw them out, and I would like to think that after I'm gone, some other collector will inherit my collection. I don't so much mind the slimline cases which still have the plastic part with the teeth to hold the CD in (see Untitled #23), but I don't like the ones where the CD is just inside a cardboard sleeve (the recent Church EPs), and I end up taking the CDs out and putting them in plastic jewel cases, anyway, for better protection (the cardboard sleeves DO scratch the CDs, BTW). An even worse example, I recently got a CD from the RCA/Legacy Playlist series, which was in a completely recycled cardboard case, and tiny fragments of the cardboard piece which holds the CD in actually come off and get all over the disc playing surface - not very well thought out!

I passed on the SK KH remasters, among other releases, last time the guys played Sellersville, PA due to "financial constraints" at the time and vowed to not make the same mistake again. So HOPEFULLY the boxset will be there waiting for us...though if the release dates the 20th, that's cutting it awfully close to the PA gig date. And another beautiful thing about Sellersville, i can buy my merch, then go lock it up in the car then go back in the venue(unlike the Troc, where I had a handful of cds in my pockets and SK's OTHER boxset and bio in hand the whole show.

It's too bad the Kilbey box and Second Motion reissues won't be available on the upcoming tour for the band's sake. I suspect they sell more merch than average at shows. I'd be happy if the reissues are simply domestic versions of the 2CD Australian remasters from a few years back but disappointed if they don't have the bonus tracks. I assume Deep In The Shallows will be slightly rejigged for the '30th anniversary edition' to include Pangaea and maybe one or two others.
I'm curious if Unorthodox/Second Motion will consider doing vinyl reissues. I suspect they won't as the original releases aren't too hard to find used (I've even seen a handful of Sometime Anywhere 2xLPs here and there) and CD/download requires less overhead, but I would love to have Priest=Aura on vinyl. Maybe a special 20th anniversary edition of P=A in 2012? The post-Arista catalogue would be great on vinyl as well, although it doesn't sound like Second Motion have the rights lined up for those (yet). |

"2 discs of rare & unreleased tracks in the US"
This part intrigues me! But I'm wondering if one disc is simply "Freaky Conclusions", since that's a CD of rare and unreleased tracks, which was never available in the U.S. I don't know, I guess getting this will depend on what's on the 2 discs of unreleased stuff. I was thinking, it could also be the "This Asphalt Eden" tracks, "Transaction" tracks, "Collector" tracks, and maybe even "As You Like It". Also, they could possibly include the bonus tracks from the KH reissues of "Unearthed" and "Narcosis Plus" (the bonus tracks on "Earthed" were spoken poetry, so I don't know if those would be included). However, I just can't see buying the other 6 solo albums a third time! Not that it wouldn't be worth it, but I'm a lot more particular about buying additional copies of CDs I already have now, due to financial restraints.

Question about Two albums | ||

I noticed on Second Motion's site two albums, one Tinmine, and the other Refo:mation Pharmakoi/Distance Crunching Honchos with Echo Units
Does anyone know anything about these two albums? |

cjnoyes, take a look at the discography. All the albums are there with track listings and other info. http://homepage.mac.com/fipster/church/albums/church-albums.html
TIN MINE is a compilation of stuff from 1998 to 2006. It was given as a gift in 2006 gigs. It was originally in a tin case with a transparent lid. Track listing is:
* Recorded live in Sydney at @Newtown, Dec. 11, 2005 (25th Anniversary show). Most excellent comp but you might have most of the songs already. Leverage is a cool and trippy song but it´s more like an atmosphere than a song. All I Know is not that far away from the original El Momento-version. ----------------------------------- REFO:MATION is an improvised album that was made in a short time in 1997. The missing link between MATS and HOB. It´s The Church without Marty and PK plays all the guitars. Slightly more experimental than the usual The Church albums but it´s still almost like a real The Church album. Recommended. Your discography is not complete without this album.

The Refo:mation album contains one of the most beautiful songs they've ever written...THE MOON AND THE SEA. Leaves behind most Church songs.

...and one of the most important issues is "how much it will cost?" $99,99 it seems. Slightly less than I expected. Tracklisting of bedroom demos: Inkling / Let's Experiment / A Doll Inside A Doll / Another Inkling / Estranged / Electrical Disturbance / Mourn The Born / When I Came Back Again / For A Moment We're Strangers / Insect World / Statue Garden / Sand and Snow / The Scene Is Real / Untitled / Left Her Behind / You're My Idea / My Abstract Model / It's Not A Question / Slowly / Rocking Horse / You Can't Turn Your Back / She Waits / Still I Don't Understand / Life Is Such A Blast / Instrumental #1 / Instrumental #2 / Are these mostly old demos or is there new ones too? For a Moment We´re Strangers and Insect World etc. are old for sure

Just ordered it. I'm happy to support Steve even though I have 90% of this material. Only 1,000 copies, so I think this will sell out quickly. I like the extra downloadable MP3s as a bonus give away. Bring on Monster & Mirages!
See you in San Juan Capistrano, KSP |
