Yes, but today there are only female hyper-sexualized stars. They can jump around in their vids naked and fake whatever bodily function they want. Nobody cares anymore. What you don´t see is male pop stars jumping around naked or in their undies. That is probably why there are no big male pop stars anymore. Nobody wants to see them naked even if they were just cartoons.

Remindlessness bug bugs me too. I know this was just a quick reissue campaign but they could have at least fixed that obvious and well known error. How costly that would have been anyway?

If they release the early The Church-albums then I´m missing only Heyday and OSAH-remasters. I have my eyes on those if they should release them. They should just pile the original songs and b-sides on one disc and skip the tiny videos in some obscure 2002 format, simply because Goldfish-DVD exists. I can´t see much idea to do the remasters just like they are now on 2 discs. I hope they get that one right but chances...

A musical society that considers the hyper-sexualized stars Britney, Gaga... acceptable should be able to live with a 1000 piece edition of an obscure box set Tin Machine II would have been a failure, even if we could have seen the erect members of the band. A godawful record.

I don't think this was a marketing decision, i believe the decisions were made by speed n deadlines. I would have said, "Hey, let's try to reconstruct the great original cover, someone make a high quality reproduction, please. And let's insert a track stop between Soul Sample n Elephant God, please. It is boring and conventional, but songs should have a track number of their own..."

The Slow Crack cover was cropped already in the Karmic Hit 2005 reissue, so that was nothing new. The original painting was done for a LP cover and I guess it was cropped because it wouldn´t look so good in the smaller CD cover. That is just a guess. Also in the original painting SK has only his hand to cover his private parts and some dark hair is shown. Even if it´s just a drawing it´s not good for some markets. If I remember correctly Tin Machine II had the private parts of drawn statues censored for the US-issue.

If you look at the Fleet Foxes-cover with Bruegel-painting, it also has a lot of details and it was done mostly for CD. It looks cool to me so maybe Slow Crack could have been uncropped too. (At least for the european version )

True, that Freaky Conclusions-sleeve looks blurry. I can´t compare it to the previous version but I don´t think the painting suffers that much as it...

Arrived! I had skipped the KH remasters, because I was broke then... now was the time! Great liner notes, with lots of interesting facts and memories, and I have rarely seen someone reassessing his own stuff with such sharp objectivity. The Remindlessness write up is a wonderful piece of music literature. I've listened to Slow Crack, Remindlessness and Dabble (my favourite SK solo albums) - and I'm overall happy with the sound. These are masterpieces, especially Remindlessness. Wow! I'm still totally overwhelmed and exhausted when it's over. It always feels like a terrible struggle, from some distant dark age to the light, through pain, beauty and suffering. Like God playing a practical joke on Job. Slow Crack is as fresh and lovely as it ever was, and Dabble, Dabble which i considered an ugly duckling for years....wow! What an album! I truly think it's better than Painkiller. The box sleeve painting is gorgeous (I'd love to have that as a print). All SK input - music, painting,...

There was no discs for the extra demos, the 2 bedroom demo-albums were as MP3 only. I was finally able to download them but I wasn´t able to listen them entirely. Rough and unfinished are my first thoughts. I don´t know if I should be happy to hear for example a totally unfinished glam rock demo with teenage SK shouting lyrics like:

She says: lucky
You´re so lucky
You´re such a lucky one!

I´m perfectly okay with the general lo-fi feeling of SK albums, in fact I don´t even think about the lo-fi aspect of them when I listen to the albums. Artifacts is there on CD and if I´m some day in the mood to listen that kind of unpolished stuff then I think that is enough. You have to be pretty hardcore fan to listen Bedroom Demos 1 and 2 more...

Can't justify parting with $100 (however much that is!) for a load of stuff I already have at least one copy of...! Nice looking set though. Must agree about the N+ cover - never really shown it to people. Its a perfectly innocent picture I'm sure but not a good choice for album cover - maybe family photo album but thats all! Nothing wrong with the original Narcosis cover imho (though not overly exciting). Haven't seen any comments on the bonus mp3 disc that was sent for pre-orders, did anyone ever get it?

It finally arrived yesterday to the far away north corner of the earth. I´m really happy with it so far. The box is quite big for the discs and the discs fell out of it quite easily. Too easily in fact. I fitted Painkiller and Unseen Music in to the box and now the discs stay put just nicely but they still slide out easily when needed. It´s like there was meant to be space for Painkiller or even CD-R´s of Bedroom Demos.

The new liner notes are just like the blog only more understandable. It was more like a diary of SK outside of The Church than liner notes. Some songs are mentioned and most forgotten but maybe that is apt for a "sketch book" like this. Going through every song wouldn´t have been right for this kind of sketches and it would have been too long and stiff way to present them. There is not much strikingly new info that hasn´t been around in the bio or other places but it was a very nice read. I always imagined the studios where the albums were recorded as...
