Saw three shows this tour,Cleveland,Charlotte, and Atlanta. The setlist was identical for all three shows. The Winchester Tavern was a dark ,cozy bar, with a good crowd in attendance. The band was in top form and hitting on all cylinders at this point in the tour.Met Joey(Severian) for the first time(in person) at this show and hung out with Holly(Milo Guido's Mom) too.Becky and I shared a table with two fans from Columbus, Henry and Ian,and had a good time chatting with them.Charlotte's McGlohan Theatre was formerly a church, now converted to an intimate concert space complete with stained glass windows. The acoustics were great and Peter and Marty's guitars really reverberated in the space. This was probably one of the best sounding shows by the church that I've seen.It was nice to see and hang out with Ann(CouldBeAnyone)again and Joey joined me for the road trip to Charlotte and Atlanta. It was also nice to see other fans Virginia, Freida,Beckye,Kamryn, and...

Steve's bantor and introduction to each song was very entertaining!
The band was in great spirits

Recieving a free CD and Program from the band...was a classy gesture, giving back to the fans. Really did not have to do that , but greatly appreciated!

I totally agree with Fandorin (and Marty) about Richard Thompson on guitar. I really love singer/guitarists that really let rip on the guitar rather than ONLY playing rhythm. Thompson is great at both songs & guitar.

QUOTE: "Marty confirmed that, for the next tour, they are thinking of doing a "classic album" run, playing one old album & one new one straight through, likely Starfish & Untitled #23. He stresses that this is far from definite so don't get too excited yet."
I hope they do something like that, it'd be great to see/hear!

Robert Fripp - complete redefinition of rock guitar. if you go for cerebral - this is where to go. i just adore his unconventional approach, even if i don't really get into the heavier stuff from the early 80es...

Tom Verlaine - the peak of cool. liquid, evocative, beautiful, nuanced...i have no idea why TV were filed under "punk". Verlaine and Lloyd tore the booze, the dumbness, the stupidity, the excessive out of rock. man, those guys played smart.

Bill Nelson - blindingly great soloist without ever becoming a masturbator. i have heard little, but i'm still discovering. on my to-do list.

Richard Thompson - an ald favourite of mine. proves that being a singer/songwriter doesn't mean you have to strum a campfire guitar. i adore him for his mending of the song-y and the virtuoso, welding it into a magical unity. the hendrix of folk, if you define "hendrix" by "playing rhythm and lead at the same time". a great melodist and a heartfelt singer,...

I can't express how blown away I was by the Atlanta show. Steve was lively, funny and charming, telling great stories between every song. The whole band was so tight. Already Yesterday was incredible, Almost With You outstanding. Their cover of Disarm... what can I say? Shame on the original? Thanks to the church for 30 years of great music. I've been listening for 28 of those years. I've seen them live several times, but never like this. Like the guy in front of me shouted several times, "We love you guys!"
