"The new songs they play us suggest a return to KJ mark1 with equally strong personalities pulling in different directions and plenty of the songs have echoes of tracks such as 'Pssyche', 'Requiem' or 'The Fall Of Because' but really have a much more modern feel. Hosannas is a different beast. Some of it is really tiring, too long, too low-fi. It really sounds like it was recorded in Chernobyl. But the title track, Hosannas From The Basement Of Hell - you have to love it!! It has something icy, 80es like in it, but the pulse is 2010. When the infernal verse arrives in chorus land, I'm in awe.

Paul Raven, bassist with post-punk band Killing Joke, has died of a suspected heart attack aged 46. The Wolverhampton musician's body was found on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was recording.

Killing Joke had hits including Love Like Blood and Pandemonium, and were covered by Metallica and Foo Fighters.

Bandmates Jaz Coleman and Geordie Walker described Raven as "possibly the funniest man on planet Earth and a brother to us all".

Raven's music career included stints in Neon Hearts and glam rock band Kitsch before he replaced original Killing Joke bassist Youth in 1982.

He left the band in 1987 before forming Murder Inc and joining Ministry, Prong and Mob Research.

there it is sitting on my CD shelf. this album is so relentlessly aggressive i guard it like a cage of scorpions someone placed in my flat. these are no guitars anymore. this is the sound of liquid lava routed through a PA... this is no voice anymore...these are the bloody lacerated shreds of what once were vocal chords. hehe....i should do these PR kits...

and it's good fun to listen to. the same fun as watching a very good horror movie.

monumental low key high end industrial tribal metal attacks. but what tribe.... i'm sure i don't want to meet the folks behind this kind of folklore...

The title track combines a thunderstorm with soaring melodies like Adorations. In the end, the songs get a bit overlong, but the flow is great.
