Hello,

A hyperthetical question....

With all the ATP/Don't Look Back series styled gigs happening these days - where a band will often play a "classic" album live start to finish -
I wonder if this is something the Church would consider...?

Given that the band is incredibly forward thinking and doesn't rest on past achievements, I am not sure whether they have ever entertained the thought.

"Starfish" would seem to be the obvious choice, as its the album the "punter" generally relates to, but anyone who follows this band is
probably of a similar opinion to me, in that their best work has happened in the last 10 years.

Imagine getting a live "Untitled #23" or "After Everything..." - wow! Or "Forget Yourself"? Or maybe a couple of albums
together...? Has anyone seen the Cure's Trilogy dvd - powerful stuff!

Having said that, a live run through of...

Hallowed ground Steve Kilbey from The Church chats with EJ Cartledge

Approaching 30 years of recording and performing, The Church show few signs of mellowing. If anything, the band is as prolific as ever and playing shows of
great resonance and variety. Their latest album, Untitled #23, garnered almost career-high reviews, establishing yet again the credentials for what is becoming
an extraordinary body of work. Inpress caught up with lead singer and chief singer/songwriter Steve Kilbey on the eve of the band's Melbourne show. As
ever, he was expansive, candid and forthright.

"It's an affirmation for sure, and it's always great to get a good review," Kilbey says, when asked of the universally positive reaction to
the new album. "But you can start looking the gift horse in the mouth and ask 'why are we getting good reviews now? Is it that good a record, are we...

"Once again, this is the story - The Church have filmed probably two hundred shows in high-quality during the last 10 years, and now, it's a bit like
choosing the setlist: somebody has to put that all together," Steve offers. "That process hasn't really begun yet, so one day, there will be a

Product Description
Song Force Crystal, the debut long play from Church, is a honing of musical themes heralded in two prior EP's. Picking up where previous
titles Gold and With All Our Love for Francisco the Man left off, Song Force Crystal was recorded in a
living room to an 8-track tape machine. The album reverberates with a warmth and rawness more familiar to 70's era basement productions than to modern day
digitalia. The songs revel in dense slabs of tape saturation, perfect for showcasing cavernous four-part harmonies, or trebly tube...

last night was incredible...not sure if there are any Chameleons fans here, but if not I *highly* suggest checking out their material...if you like dark, moody
guitar-driven rock w/ excellent vocals and great atmosphere and lyrical insight, look no further. anyway, Mark Burgess (bass/voc) played a highly unusual
one-off show in Boston last night, and our man MWP was there in attendance, first as a fan/colleague, and then later on as a player. he joined the stage for a
devastating version of "Splitting In Two" from Alternative TV, a live cover staple of The Chameleons.
