Hi all.

For the second month running and the 3rd time in 6 months, there's a request on the letters page for a feature on the band.

Given all the letters the mag must receive then I can only imagine it's something they must be considering.

I hope Tiare/Marty are in contact with Mojo to help push for this.

I've checked a few times in the past month to see if anyone posted a review of one of these shows...but can't find any. Did any Wombers attend? Even better, does anyone have a link to YouTube vids from these shows? I really, really would like to hear Song in the Afternoon live!

Top 15 spacemindscape trip songs

I thought I'd like to see (and try a playlist, listened to on headphones w/ dim lighting)
the top 15 songs (<---pseudo album length) where the music, singing, lyrics, etc take you off on flights.

Criteria:
1. Nostalgia doesn't count. You may have great memories that take you somewhere when listening to particular songs. Unfortunately, I don't have those memories
2. If you can't decide on a order, then try weaving them so that you take me (us) on a journey
3. Any period or mood will do... dark... spacey....acoustic... etc
4. Finally, limit the list to Church releases... (No side projects... at least at this point!

I've been upgrading my audiophile listening equipment, and would love to kick start 2012 on this spacemindscape journey. Will you join???

So, what can I say. Brilliant venue, excellent pristeen sound quality. Close proximity. Very appreciative and quiet crowd and of course The Church the ultimate concert band doing what they do and their very best.

This gig would have to be the best Church gig I have ever seen. I was seriously nearly in tears during moments of the set. Hearing these songs just like they are on the album sequences was just fantastic.

I was 3 rows from the front in probably one of the best seats in the house. Right in the middle. I could hear every little nuiance of instrument. You could pretty much hear a pin drop. Between songs it was like sitting in a lift.

You could tell this crowd were real fans of the band as everyone rolled up patiently for this 3 album set. A really good mix of people here.

I know by the end of the night I reckon I could have easily gone another album. Time flies when you are having fun.

Tweed Heads, 22nd Dec Gig

Great gig last night. Stella set in not the exact order but close enough. I think I have them all here..

Aura, Pangaea, Metropolis, Sealine, The Disillusionist, Ripple, On Angel Street, Unguarded Moment (full electric - brilliant), You Took, Almost with you, Under the Milky Way, Space Saviour, Reptile, Tantalized, Grind.

Really good crowd. The band enjoyed and were appreciative. Peter K is so much more moving around these days and also playing heaps of solos competing with MWP. Very good. Tim was brillant as usual. Craig on keys / guitar adding to the mix and Steve his usual self but even more animated. Very funny.

Picked up Isidore 2 cd as well as Tiare new ep. Have everything else. Good to see some vinyl there being David Neil and Hammock.

I am really happy as I am off to the Powerhouse tonight for the 3 album gig. Very cool!

PS - Highlight was hearing...

are the church beginning to wrap things up? everyone expected them to close shop in the mid 90s. but they came back, and very strongly. but is it possible theyre running out of steam again? wholly expect the next tour or two to be their last. steve just seems tired. he's looking at 60.

apologies if this is in the incorrect section but I've no idea where else to put it!

Does anybody know how to contact the churchmerch people?

A purchase that was marked as 'shipped' over 2 weeks ago has yet to arrive. (I'm in Australia) and I am unable to contact churchmerch to discover what the situation is. The contacts section on the official site doesn't give the option of churchmerch and there is no response to my emails to orders@thechurchband.net

any suggestions gratefully received.

When did the band lose capital letters?

The recent interview with PK here states that the band feels "quite strongly" about the absence of capital letters in the church. When did they decide to ditch capitalization? I know many of their album covers lack capitals but I assumed it was a stylistic choice for the cover art and nothing more.

When are they going to have their own official page in Google+ Pages?

I understand that Facebook remains the most active social site, but if they keep a presence in MySpace (which seems to be declining in popularity) I don't see why they don't have a presence in Google+ (which should be ascending in popularity).

i was very kindly invited to this event, sat on the table with our humble and modest hero and his lovely people, and although i did think the whole thing was going to be a whole evening devoted to steve it was actually a strange sort of drawn out award night with lots of other performers and people talking and it was not until the end that steve went up to collect a big silver thing from glen baker, an australian critic who actually gave the church a really strange review of their opera house gig, i felt he was at a totally different concert as his words did not match the event at all, but then i guess thats the paradox of being a critic. what kind of job is that anyway? (i agree with lou reed) anyway glen baker said some nice things about the church and specifically steve and then steve made a very good speech covering a lot of ground. asking the question what is a song? he spoke endearingly about his early...
